The Australia-based indie games publisher and game developer VR Realms are today very thrilled and happy to announce that their Free-to-Play futuristic MMO “NEO 2045” is stepping out of its open beta on September 23rd, 2021.

In addition to the vast galaxy full of sci-fi action, quests and inter-galactic adventure already available in Open Beta, the final launch version will also include the anticipated Game Maker and Pet Battles, ensuring something for everyone, all within a safe environment appropriate for younger players. It started innocently enough – the year is 2045 and a teenager beats the all-time high score for an unbeatable video game. But when player Jax reaches level 299 and beats the Lazertron 3000 game disaster strikes, as this results in a rare integer overflow with terrible consequences. The game’s big boss, Lazertron, escapes into the real world with a sole purpose – to destroy all Earthlings, since he still thinks it’s in the video game.

Catastrophic events unfold as Lazertron takes control over earth’s robot factories creating human-killing machines all over the world. After destroying much of Earth, Lazertron’s army attacks Jax’s teenage crew on the Hypershot interstellar space station, hovering just outside of Earth’s orbit.

The attack causes the unfinished Hypershot jumpgate to power up and fire the gigantic spaceship containing Jax and his crew through the rift, lightyears from earth. Luckily the ship is snagged into the orbit of an undiscovered planet where they establish NEO, the New Earth Outpost, and activate the homing beacon to attract any surviving escape pods from Earth…

NEO 2045 is a sci-fi action MMO for all ages with a vast open world, loads of single and multiplayer mini-games accessible through various arenas and locations as well as a series of Social Realms and Player Realms where players can terraform mountains and valleys and build structures and vehicles using dynamorphic components that connect seamlessly.

The new Game Maker available at launch is a drag and drop game editor that empowers kids to co-create all kinds of games from racing to puzzle play, action games to adventure platformers. The Game Maker also allows scalability, letting players create small byte size games to larger multiplayer experiences.

Also available at launch will be the anticipated Pet Battles, where players can pit their adorable pets against each other in card battle gameplay where they can collect cards, create decks and pick their own Clash Cards for battle, choosing between their pet’s most awesome attack, defense or buff moves.
