February 8th, 2024 – Geneforge 2.
The Seattle-based (Washington, the US) indie games developer Spiderweb Software, are today very proud and thrilled to announce that their open-world CRPG “Geneforge 2: Infestation”), is coming to PC via Steam on March 27th, 2024.

With an expanded world, new characters and storylines, unique abilities, and new monsters, players will spread devastation or become the protector of desperate rebels. In this open-ended experience, the story is written with your own hand.

In Geneforge 2 – Infestation, you are a Shaper, a wizard with the ability to create life to serve you. The world bows to your kind, and your creations obey you totally. Usually.

However, as the Shapers have grown complacent in their mighty empire, their mutant monsters whisper of rebellion in shadowy corners of the world. You are alone in a hostile land, trying to react to a violent uprising. But how? Ally with the rebels or obliterate them? Stoke the embers of war or find a way to peace?

Originally released in 2003, Geneforge 2 offered unmatched freedom and Infestation takes that to another level. Fight alone with blades, missiles, or magic, or create your own army of custom-made mutant monsters to turn the tide in a tight spot. Engage in battle, or use trickery, diplomacy, and stealth to win the game without even attacking a foe. Every choice has consequences, as you deal with the many factions of the game.

In the remaster, Geneforge 2 – Infestation has become a truly open-ended epic with almost ninety zones to explore, over 50 hours of gameplay, and enormous replayability. Dozens of spells, weapon skills, abilities, and creations let the player weave their way to an ending that is entirely their own.
Following an immensely successful Kickstarter, Geneforge 2 – Infestation is the second chapter of the saga, though no knowledge of Geneforge 1 – Mutagen is necessary to enjoy the game. The remaster aims to appeal to both new and familiar fans while ensuring it remains true to the original vision that earned its spot in players’ hearts.

The overwhelming support from fans during the Kickstarter has allowed Spiderweb Software to add multiple new storylines. There is also an entirely new powerful endgame mutant monster inspired by the ideas of backers.

With new areas, quests, characters, and dialogue, as well as an overhauled interface and a complete reworking of systems to bring it into the modern era of gaming, Geneforge 2 – Infestation has plenty of surprises in store, even for fans of the original.
