The Germany-based indie games developer Ready Steady Games are today very happy and excited to announce their post-apocalyptic-themed 2.5D side-scrolling shooter “Phantom Beasts: Redemption” (which currently is in development for PC, and is listed as a TBA title via Steam).

“Phantom Beasts: Redemption” is a heart-stopping 2.5D side-scrolling shooter set in a dystopic, post-apocalyptic city, controlled by all-powerful corporations and best by roaming gangs, deadly mutants… and the strange phenomenon of the Phantom Beasts.

These mystical creatures with astonishing powers are savage and unpredictable — but sometimes they allow certain people to bond with them, lending them their unique powers to help them survive in the unforgiving streets.

You are one of these trainers — a man known only as Hunter who makes a living as a gun for hire in the streets. Your new job will force you to confront a traumatic event from your past that connects you with the Phantom Beasts phenomenon — and to achieve your goals you’ll have to face not just the usual dangers of the streets in St. Petersburg, but also other Phantom trainers, and the many enemies the corporations that run the city will throw against you.

Thankfully, you have your Phantom Beasts fighting by your side — but you’ll have to learn to control them even better if you are to survive this…

ABOUT PHANTOM BEASTS: REDEMPTION
Phantom Beasts is a side-scrolling action game in 2.5D that mixes the fast-paced combat of the ‘shoot’em up’ genre with the emotion of training powerful creatures in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future.

You’ll take on the role of Hunter, a man who makes a living as a gun for hire in the streets. After his last job ended up being a complete mess, this ex-law enforcer is compelled to confront a traumatic event from his past that has to do with the Phantom Beast phenomenon.

There’s not a clear story about its origins, but most people think that these creatures are linked to the most recent nuclear disaster. To fulfill his new mission, Hunter will dive into the most hellish neighborhoods of the city and face dangerous mutant giants and other Phantom Beasts trainers, as well as the corporate forces who will try to stop him from discovering the truth. Be ready to bash some heads with your gun and the help of your new feral companions!
