Press release:
Prague, Czechia – October 16th, 2026 – Every station is closed. Every destination is dead. A handful of survivors cling to shelter aboard the last train trundling through a scorched Earth. And today, there’s just about room for one more.

Publisher Shoreline Games and developer David Konecny can announce that Dreadline Express, the first-person psychological horror “metroidbrainia” set aboard the last human train, is available today for PC via Steam.

Dreadline Express invites players into a world steeped in Lovecraftian themes and undertones, where what remains of humanity travels through the scars of a planet that is no longer ours. The game tasks players with following their curiosity through the final moving remnant of a collapsed civilisation: a steam train carrying a small cast of colourful and, frankly, ominous survivors, where riddles rather than instructions tell you where to go next.

“Dreadline Express asks you to be curious, pay attention, and make sense of the strange people sharing your journey,” says David Konecny, developer of Dreadline Express.

“After spending so long building this world, I’m excited to finally open the doors today and see what players discover for themselves.”

Every carriage holds another fragment of the mystery. Every passenger has a history, an agenda, and perhaps something hidden deep in their psyche that they would prefer you never discover. Finding a way to open a door is one thing. Deciding whether it should stay closed is another.

Holding these mysteries together is Dreadline Express’s card-based narrative system. Discoveries, encounters, and achievements take the form of cards collected in an evolving collection, giving players the means to connect clues, develop new plans, and find routes through seemingly impossible obstacles. Understanding the train, its inhabitants, and the devastated world beyond its windows is the key to progress.

“David has created a wonderfully unsettling game with a distinct identity and a brilliant approach to unravelling its mysteries,” says Keith Kawamura, CEO of Shoreline Games.

“We’re proud to launch Dreadline Express today, and can’t wait for players to meet their fellow passengers and start piecing everything together.”

Dreadline Express features: –

Unravel the mysteries of the last human train – Explore the final moving relic of a devastated civilisation, where every carriage hides new secrets, and every passenger has their own story to tell.

Choose your own way forward – Explore freely, decide who becomes an ally or enemy, and overcome obstacles through force, tactics, or careful deduction. There is never only one solution.

Piece together a fragmented story – Pay attention, gather clues, and connect the pieces of a larger narrative puzzle before everything that remains is lost forever.

Master a unique card-based narrative system – Turn discoveries and achievements into cards, then use your growing collection to uncover connections, plan your next move, and open new possibilities.

Complete the album, understand the truth – Every new card brings you closer to understanding the melancholy story behind the last human train and the fate of those aboard it.

Remember: you are being watched – Your choices, relationships, and discoveries all shape how your journey through the train unfolds.

Dreadline Express launches on Steam today.
