Press release:
July 23, 2026 – RibCage Games today announced that Alpha Nomos, its rhythm-action roguelite, is coming to PlayStation 5 & XBOX X/S following the PC launch. The announcement lands alongside a new trailer.

The trailer shows off the Xyloblades, a pair of xylophone-swords that play a note every time they land. Each strike is both a hit and a sound, so combat doubles as a performance. Chain them on-beat and Cello carves through a room while scoring it at the same time.

Alpha Nomos is a rhythm-action roguelite where every attack, dodge and ability locks to the beat. Cello fights corrupted puppets through advancing arenas using instruments as weapons, each one built from live studio recordings rather than a sample library. Play on-beat and you hit harder. Fall off it and the room punishes you.

The console announcement widens the reach of the game beyond PC, bringing its beat-synced combat, reactive soundtrack and puppetcore world to players on every major platform.

“We recorded every weapon with real players in a real room. You can hear someone’s hands in it. That mattered more to us than almost anything else, and it’s what we wanted people on console to hear,” said Emil Lager, CTO at RibCage Games.

Audio-effect powerups shift both sides of the experience at once. Reverb, Flanger, Delay and 4 more in the full release change how Cello fights and how the soundtrack sounds while she does it. Built on FMOD, the mix responds to what the player does moment to moment.

Set in a world where time and space have collapsed, the story follows Cello through abandoned cities and a corrupted circus, fighting puppets that were once part of something whole. She is chasing two questions. What caused the destruction? And what happened to her friends? And along the way she will learn what music is. RibCage calls the visual language puppetcore: clown faces, empty streets and a beauty that curdles the longer you look.

“We always wanted to put Alpha Nomos in front of as many people as possible. Bringing it to every console is how we get there, so anyone who wants to pick up a controller and feel the beat can,” said Itamar Berner, CEO of RibCage Games.

KEY FEATURES

Beat-Synced Combat: Every attack, dodge and ability locks to the beat, and landing your hits on rhythm is what makes them hit harder.

Live Instruments: Each weapon sound is a real studio recording rather than a sample library, so you can hear a person playing behind every strike.

Audio Powerups: Reverb, Flanger, Delay and 4 more reshape both how Cello fights and how the soundtrack sounds while she does it.

Roguelite Runs: Fight through advancing arenas and build out upgrades that carry across each run into the next.

Puppetcore: Explore ruined cities and a corrupted circus filled with enemies that were once part of something whole.

Original Score: The soundtrack comes from Totem Warriors, recorded live to sit inside the game’s rhythm systems.

Accessible: A timing offset lets players of every skill level tune the game so it feels rewarding rather than punishing.

AVAILABILITY

A free playable demo is available now on Steam.

Alpha Nomos launches later in 2026 on PC via Steam, with PlayStation 5 & XBOX X/S versions to follow.

About RibCage Games

RibCage Games is an independent studio founded by four developers who left mobile gaming to build the immersive PC experiences they grew up loving. Alpha Nomos is their debut commercial release, a rhythm-action roguelite built on the belief that music isn’t a backing track, it’s the rulebook. We create, we don’t generate.
