The Tallinn-based (Estonia) indie games developer Chaosmonger Studio, are today very proud and glad to announce that their sci-fi retro-inspired action-adventure “Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior“, is now fully funded on Kickstarter (“Voivod” got fully funded in less than 36-hours!).

Furthermore, Chaosmonger Studio is also proud to unveil the first prototype gameplay trailer for Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior, a retro-inspired action-adventure based on the sci-fi mythology of legendary metal band Voivod.

Blending fast-paced run-and-gun combat with Metroidvania-style exploration, the game captures the band’s dystopian universe in pixel-art form — and is now officially funded on Kickstarter, reaching its base goal in just 36 hours.

Developed under official license from Voivod and in close creative collaboration with the band, The Nuclear Warrior transports players into a fragmented post-apocalyptic nightmare. As the titular Voivod — a shapeshifting warrior who has lost his head — players must explore hostile landscapes, battle biomechanical enemies, and recover fragments of their consciousness, guided only by their own disembodied mind: Nothingface.

The gameplay fuses classic 2D platforming and exploration with modern pacing and atmosphere. Featuring tight combat mechanics, unlockable weapons and abilities, nonlinear progression, and visually rich pixel-art environments, the game offers a nostalgic yet ambitious take on the genre.

The newly released prototype trailer gives players a first look at combat, movement, visual tone, and original 16-bit-style soundtrack arrangements — all reimagined from Voivod’s music under the supervision of guitarist Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain and composer Yann Latour.

“This is a passion project — not just for Voivod fans, but for anyone who loves deep sci-fi worldbuilding, old-school platformers, and creative indie games,” says director and developer Nicola Piovesan, founder of Chaosmonger Studio.

“With the early support of our backers, we’re now aiming higher — toward expanded content, console releases, new language support, and physical editions.”
