Press release:
The Spain-based indie games publisher BadLand Publishing and the Costa Rica-based indie games developer Ceiba software & arts, today announced with great delight and thrill that their space strategy/sim game “S.O.OT.” is coming to PC and consoles (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch) this summer (2022).

The planet is dying and humanity faces imminent destruction. The only hope lies in using technology to terraform the planet and re-establish the right conditions to avoid tragedy.

Mysticism and superstition pervade everything but brave scientist Laura McKenzie is determined to save her world thanks to technology and an ancient manuscript.

THE GAME
In S.O.O.T. we take control of the scientist who learns, through a simulation and strategy game, everything necessary about terraforming.

The story is full of emotion and secrets about our world and nature facing a looming disaster.

FEATURES
Thought-provoking gameplay that promotes problem-solving with a complex simulation system.

A level-based progression that challenges the player throughout the story.

The engaging narrative is presented through gameplay and interactive comics.

A stylized vision of the science fiction genre with a Steampunk aesthetic full of details.

An intelligent reflection on how humanity influences the environment through technology.

About Ceiba software & arts:
Ceiba Software & Arts is an indie game development studio located in Costa Rica. We began operations in 2015 with two projects: Voxel Blast and Project S.O.O.T. We are focused in IP with emphasis in artistic experimentation, that’s why we are constantly prototyping and testing the boundaries of different ideas and genres.

We believe games are a form of art in itself, with special properties no other discipline can convey. A game has the potential to create a strong reflective experience, it has the power to question our values and principles, to shake our foundations, to change our perspective about life, the universe and ourselves.

Sure, a game can be entertaining, an escape, but it can also be terrifying, profound, disruptive, introspective, transformative. We want all that for our games. We want to create experiences that leave a permanent mark in our players hearts.

About BadLand Publishing:
We’re the guide that will help you on your way. From the first playable versions right through to that magical moment when you see players enjoying your video game on their favourite platform in their favourite format.

Creators such as Fictiorama and Anima Project have entrusted us with their projects. Each one is special and unique and has required creativity, commitment, care and effort. We contribute, learn and share with you. Indie development is a world full of big moments and challenges. We have repeatedly overcome the most difficult hurdles in each phase: production, porting, QA, market analysis, communication, marketing, production of limited physical editions, etc.
