Press release:
November 20, 2025.
Fira Soft and indie.io are today very proud and thrilled to announce that their third-person survival horror game, ‘Kriophobia’ (which takes place in the frozen depths of a forgotten Soviet military complex on Zhokhov Island), is now available for PC via Steam
Players take on the role of Anna, a geophysicist trapped beneath the permafrost, forced to manage scarce supplies and lethal temperatures while confronting surreal visions and grotesque abominations.
Overview
Kriophobia blends slow-burn psychological storytelling with tense survival gameplay. The game pairs resource and temperature management with exploration, environmental puzzles, and avoid-or-confront encounters that reward stealth and careful planning. Visually, the title combines comic-ink linework with painterly textures and handcrafted static camera angles to create cinematic, uncanny scenes. A Slavic-inspired soundtrack and layered sound design heighten isolation and dread, making the environment itself a relentless threat.
