GAME
Root Film takes place on the set of a mysteriously cancelled TV series “Shimane Mystery Drama Project”, rebooted for the first time in 10 years. Take the role of 23-year-old Rintaro Yagumo as his excitement for an amazing casting opportunity is quickly curbed, when a horrible murder interrupts their location scouting process.
Investigate Murder
Find yourself swept up in a series of inexplicable crimes related to your work on a television set steeped in rumours of a historic curse.
Using a series of mechanics unique to Root Film, you’ll be tasked with investigating crime scenes, gathering evidence and exposing the truth behind the murders.
Play As Two Protagonists
?️ RINTARO ?️
Meet Rintaro Yagumo, a poor, film director who owns a small independent studio, “Studio Yagumo”. He makes a meagre existence on sham supernatural DVDs and the occasional small-time promotional video but is constantly improving himself. He recently won prizes at the 6 Minute Film Festival and the Asian Film Convention, gradually earning him renown as an up-and-coming director.
? RIHO ?
Riho is an up-and-coming actress. Despite her on-screen debut being through only a small agency, her captivating looks and natural acting ability have gained her high esteem within the industry. She possesses both natural carefree charm and the confidence of an actress, which she uses to throw her manager, Manabe, for a loop
Gather Clues
Using Root Film’s Intuition mechanic, players can dissect and assess crime scenes, conversations and characters to detect clues that are relevant to the investigation.
Activate Synesthesia Mode when keywords appear to memorise statements and phrases that can be called upon later!
Interrogate Suspects
Confront suspects in Max Mode, a fast paced, reaction-based interrogation tactic that blends mechanics from traditional visual novels and fighting games.
Using keywords and clues gathered in Intuition and Synesthesia Mode, press on suspects, and expose their lies through an intense showdown – skilfully force a suspect to reveal his hand and give up the truth!
Two Sides To Every Story
Experiment with the Zapping mechanic to reveal the perspective of two characters at the same time. Experiencing events from two different viewpoints is an essential tool to discern truth from lies!
‘Root Film’ Is Out Now on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 With a Limited Time 20% Launch Discount!
