The Wiesbaden-based (Germany) indie games publisher Assemble Entertainment and Hamburg-based (Germany) indie games developer Tiny Roar, today announced with great delight and excitement that their time-traveling sci-fi action/adventure “XEL” is coming to PC (via Steam and GOG) and the Nintendo Switch (via the Nintendo Eshop) this Summer (2022).

Adorned as a “love letter to classic Zelda titles,” XEL’s latest trailer shows off the strikingly fluorescent landscapes awaiting players, as well as some of the game’s brain-bending puzzle levels and its core mechanic and most fascinating story element: time travel!

A wondrous 3D sci-fi fantasy, XEL follows an amnesiac protagonist named Reid, who finds herself shipwrecked on a mystifying planet with no memory of who she is or where she’s from.

During her quest, Reid will meet a cast of charming characters, engage in thrilling top-down dungeon-clearing combat, and of course, find and upgrade a whole arsenal of valuable items and tools — some of which may help her jump through space and time itself. As Reid delves deeper into the mysteries surrounding the world of XEL, she discovers an endless cycle of peril. Does she have the strength and courage to end the cycle for good, or will she too become trapped?

XEL launches on Windows PC via Steam and GOG, as well as Nintendo Switch, in summer 2022. The verdant adventure also launches on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Playstation 4/5 later this year.
