Press release:
January 10th 2023.
After almost four years in development, developer Studio Daimon is elated to announce that “Path of the Midnight Sun” is now available worldwide on Steam.
Successfully funded via Kickstarter in 2019, Path of the Midnight Sun is a highly-anticipated 30-hour adventure which wears its love for classic JRPGs like Fire Emblem on its sleeve.
Players will join one of three distinctive protagonists as they fight to save the continent of Arvium from the threat of an ancient Demon King. Having ruled for decades as a tyrant, the Demon King was eventually sealed away. Now, after 21 years of peace, complacency and tragedy intertwine as the vessel for the Demon King – Lady Faratras – is caught up in a violent event that casts doubt over her ability to contain the ancient power.
In Path of the Midnight Sun, communication and the ability to battle are deeply intertwined. Building strong relationships with each of the supporting cast of characters will sharpen their abilities in the game’s many tactical battles. Outside of battle, players must cook, craft and care for their companions. Building strong bonds is key, but players can build a deep enough connection to unlock romances – creating an especially effective link in the heat of battle.
Path of the Midnight Sun’s adventure is delivered against the backdrop of a rich 2.5 animated world. Every character, enemy, backdrop and asset has been drawn by hand, creating a vibrant visual experience. This is backed up by a cast of professional voice actors who have provided passionate and impactful spoken dialogue for over 50 characters in the game.
Developer Alfred Kamon initially envisioned Path of the Midnight Sun as a mod for Fire Emblem in the mid-2010s. After receiving positive fan-feedback, he launched a Kickstarter to turn the project into a standalone game. Having spent four years in development, the game is finally available globally, much to the delight of its passionate fan base.
Alfred Kamon, lead developer for Path of the Midnight Sun, said: “The release of ‘Path of the Midnight Sun’ is a dream come true for me, and I can’t wait for players to experience the immersive world and compelling storyline we’ve created. The art and orchestrated soundtrack are simply breathtaking, and I think fans of the classic JRPG formula will love the modern twist we’ve brought to the genre.”
Path of the Midnight Sun is available on PC via Steam, priced $24.99 / €24.99 / £22.99.
