Press release:
Israel – December 19, 2024.
The Israel-based solo indie games developer David Vinokurov are today very happy and proud to announce that he has just released the massive 0.3 update for his turn-based tactical roguelite/dungeon-crawler “Netherguild“(a game that has been in development in 2018 and released in Steam Early Access on March 27 2023).
The said update is available right now for ‘PC via Steam Early Access.
The update includes two new areas, as well as four new classes (doubling the amount of in-game classes!) and more.
Out of the four classes being added, two can be unlocked by gaining standing with the Nobility faction and two can be acquired through the Commoners faction.
The Duelist is a class of the Nobility focused on the Bleed and Incapacitate status effects (incapacitates disables movement).
The Alchemist is the Nobility’s healing class, they’re focused on buffing allies and exploiting status effects on enemies. They have a powerful single use heal which scales with an ally’s maximum health.
Meanwhile, the Healer is the Commoner’s healing class, focused on easily removing negative status effects from allies – and is the best choice for players who want a healing focused character for their party.
The Hero is the last but not least Commoner class which can tank enemy attacks and buff its allies (as well as itself) throughout a fight before crashing down on its enemies with a massive amount of damage later on.
The two new areas that players will be able to explore include the Sewers, with various pests and cleaning automatons as enemies as well as ancient sewer water which will slow your units down.
The second area being added is the Damp Caves below the Sewers, where various fungal mushroom enemies will rain poison and debuffs on your units.
What’s being added this update:
2 New Floors with Unique Enemies and Loot
4 New Classes
Unique faction food items
What was added since early access release in March 2023:
Improved Visuals & Shading
More Content, Enemies and Loot
Controller Support
Improved Combat Encounters
About Early Access:
Netherguild’s Early Access phase is planned to last for the next few years, with content, polish and systems being added throughout – together with the community.
About Netherguild:
Netherguild is a turn-based tactical roguelite dungeon-crawler where you play as the leader of the Netherguild – controlling your little voxel fighters in expeditions below the earth in a desperate attempt to find a cure to a strange plague.
Explore, camp, and fight as far as you can before heading back to resupply. What will you discover underground?
Features:
Turn Based Combat: With no attack RNG, so you can count on your units and know when to engage enemies and when to fall back.
Bonfires: and a food system which affects your characters with passive effects throughout their expedition.
Oddities: random events you discover which present choices underground.
Replay Value: with random equipment, random character backgrounds with different skills each playthrough and procedurally generated levels every time you descend underground mean that playthroughs feel different every time.
Roguelite with Persistence and Story: Keep your characters at the end of each expedition (if they survive), equip them with powerful items and level them up over time. Netherguild’s story progresses the more you explore and find out about the secrets of its world.
Dungeon Crawling Resource Management: Balance powerful abilities across long expeditions underground.
Original Game World: Netherguild is unconventional low-fantasy; No Orcs, no Elves, and no wizards casting fireballs. Expect to find strange creatures, machines and denizens far underground.
Cute Voxel Aesthetics: Contrasted by a story with serious themes, as you face against plague and conspiracy!
