Anireal is a personal journey to recovery from child abuse as told through a videogame-inspired original album with proceeds going to help victims.

NEW YORK – September 20, 2017 – Composer Calbert “Schematist” Warner is proud to present Anireal, an original videogame-inspired album exploring child abuse and the journey to recovery. Inspired by the life story of friend and videogame developer Jessica Fong, Anireal is a contemplative and emotional electronic soundtrack to healing with proceeds to be donated to helping others on their journey to recovery through the New York Center for Children, which was founded in 1995 and provides free evaluations and therapy to victims of child abuse and their families. Anireal is now available wherever digital music is sold:

“After several conversations with fellow composers and artists, I noticed the topic of mental health was an area that was frequently ignored or unexplored,” comments Warner. “While meeting Jessica Fong and hearing her talk so candidly about her abusive past, I realized I had more than enough motivation to create this project. I was heavily inspired by videogame composers such as Yuzo Koshiro, Nobuo Uematsu, Shoji Meguro and Zircon and wanted to blend a variety of styles together to create a convincing melodic storytelling experience and I am proud of the end result.”

Anireal emphasizes this melodic storytelling element throughout the course of the album. The opening track, “Fragments,” symbolizes Jessica reminiscing on happy moments from her childhood, while the next track, “Recovery,” immediately shifts and allows the listener to experience the intimate thoughts of someone suffering from depression. The subsequent tracks all highlight key turning points in her life and concludes with Jessica regaining her sense of self in the final track “Anireal.”
