Press release:
The Nicosia-based (Cyprus) indie games developer Owlcat Games are today very excited and glad to announce that their cRPG “Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader”, is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 11th, 2025.
Furthermore, Owlcat Games has also just announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy’s Alpha launch on December 16. These launches finish out an impressive year for the studio, with plenty more exciting things to come in 2026.
Rogue Trader Lands on Switch 2 December 11
Rogue Traders rejoice, for soon your voidships will enter the galactic sectors of the Nintendo Switch 2! Available December 11 for $49.99, Owlcat’s beloved CRPG, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, will be the studio’s first title on the Switch 2. With authority graciously granted by the Imperium of Man, Nintendo players will soon be able to trade, conquer, and explore the Koronus Expanse, all while ensuring they don’t fall victim to their own ambitions.
For those exploring the Koronus Expanse on other platforms, Owlcat Games has just released the massive Update 1.5, featuring numerous quality-of-life improvements. Players can learn about the major changes and additions through the video update.
Players will take on the role of a Rogue Trader, a scion of an ancient dynasty of daring privateers who reign over their own trade protectorate and explore the fringes of Imperial space with the blessing of the Emperor Himself. By virtue of their Warrant of Trade, the Rogue Trader is endowed with privileges and power beyond imagination, as well as the task of expanding the borders of the Imperium. A gargantuan voidship of immense strength and innumerable personnel ready to follow their leader without question is at their disposal. Show your subjects mercy or disdain, stay faithful to the Emperor or consort with the enemies of Humanity — the Rogue Trader’s every decision sends ripples across entire star systems, changing the in-game world and those who inhabit it.
Dark Heresy’s Alpha Launches December 16
Alongside the Rogue Trader news, Owlcat also revealed the December 16 launch date for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy’s Open Alpha. This Alpha will see players become Inquisitors, leading investigations, uncovering grand conspiracies, mastering tactical combat, and waging a secret war against heresy, all while acting as conduit of the God-Emperor’s will.
Players can join the Alpha by contributing to the development process and becoming a Founder on the Owlcat Games website. Alpha Access is included as a reward in both the $79 tier, and in the $289 Collector’s Edition.
Step into the shadows as an acolyte of the Inquisition in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a second narrative-driven tactical RPG set in the beloved Grimdark universe. Set against the backdrop of the Noctis Aeterna and the mystery of the Tyrant Star, players will lead a warband of diverse companions in a desperate battle against heresy and corruption, from loyal Imperial subjects, such as a veteran Guardsman from the death world of Catachan, to nefarious xenos, including a bird-like Kroot mercenary. With intricate investigations, a turn-based combat system, and choices that carry grave consequences, Dark Heresy is an atmospheric dive into the brutality and mysticism of one of the Imperium’s most feared organizations. The game greatly expands on the ideas introduced in Rogue Trader and features fully voiced dialogues.
In the meantime, players can buy Rogue Trader and its two current DLCs on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG, as well as PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One and Series X|S.
Players can wishlist Dark Heresy now on Windows PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG, plus PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One and Series X|S.
