Independent developer Fatshark is proud to bring a new challenge to the award-winning and multi-million selling “Warhammer: Vermintide 2“.

Geheimnisnacht is upon us, and it’s bigger than ever. The yearly event has grown, and the players of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will get to experience the greatest Geheimnisnacht ever.

Geheimnisnacht introduces Grudge Marks
The Grudge Marks is a free update that brings an amplified challenge to the Chaos Wastes expansion of Vermintide 2, which will make the players face mutated enemies. The Chaos Wastes expansion was released earlier this year and is free for anyone that owns Warhammer: Vermintide 2.

Geheimnisnacht including Grudge Marks is a free update available on PC and consoles today.

No Snoozing
There’s a clock on the Geheimnisnacht event, it starts today and ends on November 7. Grudge Marks are forever.

Grudge Marks
Face stronger monsters than ever before. The Grudge Marked monsters are identified by two spears poking up through their backs. Depending on difficulty each Grudge Marked monster has a set of attributes that modifies their defensive and offensive behaviour. We are adding 10 attributes in this update. Grudge Marked monsters can only be found in Chaos Wastes.

Q&A Markus Olsén – Geheimnisnacht & Grudge Marks

Fatshark is bringing a bigger Geheimnisnacht than ever and at the same time introduces Grudge Marks. Markus Olsén, Lead Game Designer for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 at Fatshark, explains why this is not to be missed.

Geheimnisnacht has been a tradition for many years in Warhammer: Vermintide 2, this time we’re taking it to the next level.

Tell us about what’s new in Geheimnisnacht.
This year we decided to add another layer to what Geheimnisnacht has been the previous years. Players will venture out under the ominous light cast by the evil moon and in 5 levels they will encounter cultists praying around a ritual site.

If the players defeat the cultists, their onslaught and eventually destroy the ritual site a surprise awaits those brave enough to collect a piece of the ritual site: a skull decorated with diamonds.

Are there Geheimnisnacht exclusive items?
Yes! Those who complete the event missives will receive rewards for their efforts. New weapon illusions, one for each hero, can be earned between October 28 – November 7 on all platforms. These weapon illusions will not be available after November 7.

Of course we cannot forget that October 28 not only means the start of Geheimnisnacht. October 28 also introduces the latest free update to Vermintide 2, Grudge Marks, that is also coming to all platforms!

What are Grudge Marks?
Grudge Marks are monsters that have been marked with a grudge. These enemies are not your everyday big bad monster. Recognizable by the spears poking through their backs, a grudge-marked monster provides an extra challenge in Chaos Wastes.

We felt a bit too generous with the loot gained from Expeditions, and we also felt they lacked a bit of a finale. So we opted to introduce a more exciting finale to warrant the great rewards. I hope our players will feel the same terror I have when coming across a really nasty Grudge Mark, at the worst time.

What is the key to slaying a Grudge Marked monster?
The best tip I can give you is to pay attention to the Grudge Marked enemy’s attributes. They are visible near the enemy’s health bar.

A random set of attributes are applied to the monster, modifying their offensive and defensive behavior. We are adding 10 attributes total in this update.

When does Geheimnisnacht begin?
It will begin on October 28 and will be live until November 7. Geheimnisnacht is a free event, and available to everybody that owns Vermintide 2.

Grudge Marks is not a timed event?
No it’s not a timed event. Grudge Marks is a permanent addition to the Chaos Wastes.
