Innovative Viking RTS Introduces New Battleboard Mission, ‘The Dark Forest’; Adds New Female Shaman Character and New Merchant Store.

Press release:
Copenhagen, Denmark – September 7th, 2017 – Indie development team Playwood Project today announced that Wartile, its visually stunning medieval real time strategy game played out on digital diorama-themed Battleboards, will release its latest major content update tomorrow in the form of Adventure Pack 0.6, the second major update of new features and enhancements.

“This latest update and content package adds more player assets and further refines the overall player experience as we work towards final release,” said Michael Rud Jakobsen, Founder and Creative Director of Playwood Project. “This new adventure pack introduces a new battleboard, The Dark Forest – a dark and mysterious place steeped in Viking mythology. We’ve also added a merchant store for players to trade their in-game looted items and have added new weapons and armor as well”.

In addition to the new Dark Forest Battleboard, Adventure Pack 0.6 adds its second female warrior to the mix in the form of Völva, a female Shaman who harnesses mysterious natural power. Völva is armed with a wooden staff but can also attack nearby enemy units with a large Crow that circles above her. The Dark Forest now takes the available number of playable Battleboards in Wartile to 10 and offers a totally new combat environment to players.

Other updates and tweaks include new additions to Ability cards and improvements to the Godly and Tactical card system, which prevents duplicate cards from being drawn into the deck. Improved stat tokens for higher difficulty levels or taking down special enemy units and further tweaks to the UI to improve navigation at the campaign board are also part of Adventure Pack 0.6.

A 15% discount on Steam and on the Humble Bundle store will also coincide with this latest Adventure Pack update and will be available from 10am PDT Friday 8th September. For the full rundown on new features in the latest update head over to Wartile’s Steam page here:

About Wartile
Wartile is a single player and multiplayer real time tabletop inspired game for PC with a strong turn based flavor to it. The game replicates the experience of tabletop gaming but with faster, more immediate combat. Wartile’s visually intricate digital dioramas aim to introduce a dramatically impactful presence combined with a rewarding RTS combat dynamic. Players are challenged to lead a group of Viking warriors through a series of visually stunning battle boards each with its own story and lore.

Featuring single and multiplayer modes, Wartile thrusts players in hand-to-hand and ranged combat and provides players with the ability to level up and customize their figures with a variety of weapons and armor. Exploration of the highly detailed Battle Boards will also unlock items the player can utilize throughout the various quests.

Wartile introduces a unique turn based aspect to its RTS gameplay where players can add a tactical edge to their combat by utilizing Ability cards and Godly cards as their figurine gains more experience. A gentle cooldown system gives players enough time to bring ability cards into play, which will emphasize the games tactical feature as an RTS about decisive decision-making and battle board positioning. Godly cards and abilities can be assembled by the player before engaging in battle and used during combat and provide health, defense and attack boosts during challenging combat engagements.
