Press release:
Nicosia, Cyprus – December 8, 2022.
Wishlist Games are today very happy and proud to announce that they have just launched the first season for their tactical shooter “World War 3“.
The season start also marks the end of the Early Access and the start of the live-service development, which will see consistent additions of new content and further refinement of the game.
In ‘Operation Redline’ new maps in the Korean DMZ and the Chinese Gobi Desert give players new maps to fight over and the new military gear from South-Korean and Chinese militaries adds to their toolbox.
World War 3 is a tactical online FPS developed by Polish studio The Farm 51, also known for Chernobylite and Get Even. Players engage in thrilling, team-based skirmishes by fighting on the ground, driving tanks and vehicles, utilizing drones to survey the battlefield, and calling in tactical strikes for maximum damage. Up to 40 players can battle in two core game modes, Tactical Ops and Deathmatch, with matches fought on a range of stunning, realistic maps. Squad up and take the fight from the streets of Warsaw, Berlin, Moscow, Polyarny, Smolensk and now the DMZ and Gobi Desert.
Operation Redline is the first Global Operation, a major seasonal content update that is themed around new Conflict Zones, nations or locations which allow for continuous growth of the game with new content. Each Global Operation further expands the scope of conflict by including new maps, features, game modes, quality-of-life improvements, weapons, strikes, and vehicles to diversify the tactical squad play. Redline is the first of 3 updates with the rest to follow in 2023, more details can be found on the Content Roadmap on the official website.
Operation Redline focuses on China and the Korean Peninsula. Two new maps; a frantic Team Deathmatch map in the Gobi Desert and a larger DMZ map for the Tactical Ops mode. In addition to new maps, players can unlock brand-new Blueprints, even more weapons, vehicles, and strikes based on the Republic of Korea’s 707th Special Mission Group and China’s People’s Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF)
Note: All base Blueprints for new gear, weapons, vehicles, and strikes in Operation Redline can be unlocked via free progression and do not require the purchase of a Battle Pass.
In addition to new content, developer Farm 51 has been finalized a host of new features and improvement. Amongst others these include more realistic weapon and movement collision, base protection, improvements to the clarity of player’s health bars, the ability to reload while leaning, and changes to vehicle spawning.
World War 3 is free to play but with the start of Operation Redline players can also purchase a Battle Pass which contains exclusive rewards. By completing challenges players can unlock over 50 Tiers of Free and Premium rewards, including new and unique customization options for Operators, weapons, strikes, and more.
