War is hell, especially when you’re a pea shooter under suppressive fire from a bunch of rabid zombies, until an magical Rose swans in and turns them into goats! Garden Warfare 2 is bigger, better and crazier than its previous outing, packed full of content. PVZ GW2 is possibly one of the best game’s EA have released in years.
After sinking several hours in to blowing-up plants and zombies alike it became apparent that this game has been made with love and respect, you can tell the developers have really enjoyed creating this game. The level of detail is brilliant; visuals are vibrant with color, the characters all look fantastic and sound design is at a high standard too. There is so much more to do in Garden Warfare 2. For example, there is an all-new hub world to explore. And you have your own base of operations. Garden Ops returns with even more bosses, and there is a good variety of online modes and Gardens as well. And the Graveyards has been updated too, so now the zombies have to defend against the plants!
The content doesn’t end there, there are six new characters, for the Zombies, there’s Captain Deadbeard, Imp with Z-Mech, and Super Brainz. For the Plants, Rose, Citron and Colonel Corn, the brand-new characters are incredibly fun to play as with my personal favorite being Deadbeard. There are 12 new maps and over 100 playable characters! It’s overwhelming with so much to do and there’s also a single player aspect for both Plants and Zombies. You can play through missions alone or with friends and there’s a nice surprise waiting for you when you complete each campaign!
The gameplay is as fun as ever, although there have been some balance issues with certain characters at launch (Rose was a little too powerful). However, since then a patch has solved many of the problems players were complaining about, (there was also some free content too). Balance issues aside, battles are fast and frantic with 24 multi-player fights. Which make for some epic battles as you fight to take positions. There are also smaller game modes such as welcome mat for newcomers, team death-match, gnome bomb and more. It’s accessible and enjoyable for all ages, which is a nice change from the carbon copy shooters we see all too often. Garden Warfare has plenty of charisma, as its sense of humour is on point, and it’s evident throughout the entire game. It’s pure fun!
Sticker packs also return, and the in-game currency is easily earned so you don’t feel that you’re being pushed towards micro-transactions. Personally, I really like the sticker packs, it adds an element of surprised and excitement, much like the days when I’d open up a pack of Pokemon cards and get a nice holographic card. The best thing is that you don’t need to worry about getting any duplicates. There’s also an added bonus for owners of the previous game, you can import your progress and unlocked characters over to “Garden Warfare 2” and even get a bonus for your rank which just fantastic!
There’s probably one major issue I’ve come across and that is the game is always online. So if the servers go down, for some reason (whatnot), you can’t do anything at all. In other words, you can’t play Garden Ops or do the single player missions. Hopefully, the servers hold strong but this is worth noting of your Internet isn’t the most stable. There’s also been an odd audio pop from time to time, this has happened while playing online and alone.
It’s without a doubt that “Garden Warfare 2” is an immensely enjoyable game no matter how old you are, the vibrant colours, variety of characters and free content are a winning formula. The only gripe is the game is server-based so if they end up going down you can’t play at all. However, that aside there’s hours upon hours of content and there’s plenty to keep you playing throughout the year. You can really tell that the developers had tons of fun making this PVZ GW2, and that shows in the quality on offer here. So in my opinion, Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is a must buy if you´re a fan of PVZ GW (or third-person-shooter games in general).
