I´m not all that much for surprises, unless it’s the “pleasant” kind. And I have to say that the news about Google dropping their Google+ requirement for Youtube (and other Google services) was a really pleasant surprise. Especially since Google+ has been around since 2011 (yes, people have disliked G+ for over four years time now). And it´s kind of hard to forget that Google forced Google+ up on everyone as well (you had to create a G+ account in-order to use your Youtube account, for example). Well, the Youtube community was fast to let Google know what they thought about Google+. Yes, you guessed it. They hated G+. However, the nightmare ends as of today. As Google´s VP Bradley Horowitz has announced that Google will remove the Google+ requirement to engage with other Google products. So that means that you no longer have to use G+ (or create a G+ account) if you don´t want to. As G+ is now its own separate “thing”.
Personally, I couldn´t be happier over this decision. As I never liked the idea of being forced to use G+ in-order to use other Google services in the first place…
