#GamerGate, dead but still very much alive

It´s always fun to see when a false narrative comes crashing down in front of your eyes, and I just witnessed a perfect example of that here and now. Because ever since #GamerGate started back in August last year, mainstream media (and most of the video game media) has pushed the agenda that #GamerGate is dead. Well, either that or dying. Which of course is not true, since there are plenty of graphs and stats that prove the right opposite to that (like Topsy for example). So I was not surprised to hear that #GamerGate has generated over 7.5 million tweets since August 2014. That´s an insane amount of tweets in less than 12 months.

In fact, that´s over 750K tweets per month on average.

So much for the “being dead” narrative.

That´s also why I´m somewhat curious to know why the media keeps on pushing the narrative about #GamerGate being dead? When it obviously isn´t. So it seems like #GamerGate is both dead and alive at the very same time? At least, that´s the picture you get when you read the stats, numbers and graphs for #GamerGate, and listen to what the media and Anti-GamerGate says. But just like agent Fox Mulder has been saying for years in the X-Files series “The truth is out there”. So all you have to do is to search for the truth, and you shall find it!
