It´s been known for years that Hideo Kojima isn´t all that fond of the thought of remaking his own creations. And that´s something which Kojima has stated several times throughout the years.
Simply because Kojima don´t like the thought of redoing something which has already been done and made. That became very clear in an interview back in August last year, when Kojima stated that his “not too fond of remakes.”
However, he also said this:
“If it was going to be a remake, I wouldn’t want to make a standard remake, but something similar to what Planet of the Apes is doing: Bringing the best of the past to the present and doing something new,” – Hideo Kojima
And now, almost one year later. Kojima seems to have a change of heart when it comes to remakes. Because Kojima would love to make a open-world remake of Metal Gear Solid 1 for the PS4.
Great news indeed. Don´t hold your breath though, as Kojima won´t have time for a MGS1 PS4 remake (with the Fox Engine?) anytime soon (if EVER). As he is rather busy with both “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain“, and “Silent Hills“.
But even so, Kojima seems to be very hungry to release the old school MGS games for the PS4. So “maybe” we will get to see a open-world remake of MGS1 within 1-3 years from now?
