One might find this hard to believe, but it has actually been over 17 years since the latest edition of Roberta Williams´s King´s Quest got released (“King’s Quest: Mask of Eternity,” which would be Sierra Studios eighth title In the series), and I honestly never thought that I would ever get to see a new King´s Quest title again, because when I finished “King’s Quest: Mask of Eternity” back In 1999 (the game was released In December 1998). I had no Idea (whatsoever) that it would take 17 years for a brand-new King´s Quest game to get made.
So I kind of gave up on the thought of a King´s Quest 9 around 2001-2002 sometime, but then I found out about The Odd Gentlemen (Winterbottom and Flea Symphony) and Sierra Entertainment´s new “King´s Quest” game (which Is set for a Q3/Q4 release to Windows, PS3, PS4, 360 and Xbox One). Sure, “King´s Quest” (Aka “King´s Quest 2015”) was originally announced back in February 2011, But In some-odd way I missed out on It.

The new “Kings Quest” game Is made by The Odd Gentlemen (Flea Symphony, Winterbottom) and published by Sierra.
Anyhow, the new “King´s Quest” game will work as a reboot of sorts for the KQ series. However, even so, the game will not be a remake, sequel or a prequel. No, “King´s Quest 2015” will Instead work as an introduction of the KQ universe to a new (and old) audience, but with today’s graphics and standards of course. Here´s a huge surprise for me. However, KQ 2015 will NOT have a point-and-click interface. So I guess that KQ 2015 will have the same kind of keyboard interface that “Escape from Monkey Island” had (for example).
The new “King´s Quest” game Is also said to be divided into five episodes In total, and each episode will take place In different parts of the “King´s Quest” series (the previous KQ titles). One thing remains the same however, as the series main character (Graham of Daventry) makes his glorious return In the new KQ game.
I have to say that Graham of Daventry looks a whole lot different in the new game though, because in the old “King´s Quest” titles. Daventry was a stud/beefcake, now his more like a Guybrush Threepwood kind of character. I don´t know if that´s for good or bad, but as long as KQ 2015 turns out to be an awesome and funny game, then I don´t really mind. I´m still somewhat curious to find out If The Odd Gentlemen will add some more famous KQ faces to the game though, such as Rosella and Alexander.
I´m quite sure that they will though. As It would be a rather foolish move not to include well-known previous characters from the series, Since It´s a reboot of the “King´s Quest” series after all. We will know for sure when “King´s Quest” gets closer to Its release later this year. As for me, I love the game (and the awesome music!) so far.
So are you guys/girls excited for the new “King´s Quest” game?
About King’s Quest (2015):
Developed by The Odd Gentlemen, the new King’s Quest™ reimagines all the charm, humor, puzzles, exploration and sense of wonder that made the franchise so magical when it first arrived thirty years ago. Old and grey, King Graham – the hero made legend in the original King’s Quest games – shares the extraordinary stories of his youth with his curious granddaughter, Gwendolyn, taking players back to the feats that shaped a kingdom.
And so begins an episodic saga that honors the core characters and familiar storylines of King Graham’s early adventures, setting up new chapters tied to – but independent of – the series that helped define Sierra and the adventure genre. Through these tales, a whole new generation can finally experience one of gaming’s most beloved journeys.
