If you´re a fan of ID Software´s “Doom” series, then it´s highly likely that you have stumbled across a handful of wads and mods by now. Especially since there has existed fan-made Doom content since the early 90s, still, some mods truly stand out from the crowd (quality, creativity and gameplay-wise). And a perfect example of such a mod would-be Arch´s “Pirate Doom” mod. Well, at least if you like pirates. As the game focuses heavily on pirates, Truth be told though. I think “Pirate Doom” looks and feel like a mix of “Monkey Island“, “Outlaws” and “Pirates of the caribbean” (at least in my opinion). So there´s a “little” more than just pirates to the mod, if you know what I mean?.
And that´s just the half of it. As “Pirate Doom” also offers tons of bizarre humor as well (like demons with cute little eye patches and pirate hats, for example), not to mention all the cool weapons that you get a chance to play with. And I´m talking about everything from dual flintlocks, gatling guns, pirate swords, dynamites, Sawed-off shotguns and to big authentic pirate cannons. And good thing that, since “Pirate Doom” is full of blood-thirsty demon pirates (every single enemy from “Doom 2” has undergone a full pirate total makeover in “Pirate Doom”). So that means that you got plenty of joyful moments ahead of you in “Pirate Doom”. Well, if you decide to give the game a fair chance that is.
A fun side note though, “Pirate Doom” has been around since 2013 (the mod project launched in 2012). Even so, I didn´t find out about the mod until just recently (only the Gaming gods know why). Any ways, nowadays “Pirate Doom” is a full-blown GZDoom TC kind of project (v1.8 would be the latest edition). So that means that there are plenty of maps to be enjoyed in “Pirate Doom” as well (18 levels or so), and if you ever get tired of the original maps. Then you could just download some news maps from the Internet. And voila! You´re all good to go again. You can also play around with different mods, skins and textures if you have the know how, time and patience for it.
So I would most definitely recommend “Pirate Doom” to anyone who likes pirates and the old-school “Doom” series. However, I would like to point out that the mod hasn´t been updated since the 11th of June, 2014. So it´s been quite a while since we saw any new version of “Pirate Doom”. Don´t let that scare you away though, because the game runs just fine on both Win 7 and Win 10 (I tried both systems earlier today). With that said, I hope that everyone will have a blast with this awesome mod =)

About Pirate Doom:
Pirate Doom started back in mid-2012, and what a long way we’ve come, baby. Arch got the ball rolling with some humorous sprite edits and a few levels and developed the thing into a full-blown GZDoom TC, which saw its major final touches in 2013. Every monster you know from Doom II has undergone some fantastic work to fit them into the Pirate pantheon, from the lowly zombieman to the strapping Cyberdemon, and all the action plays across a wonderfully varied 18 or so levels, giving you plenty of time to get intimate with the changes as you swash and buckle your way through a brand new adventure. There’s a comical tone running through the whole set, beginning with the voice clips uttered by the transmogrified zombies and the way the imps’ hats fly up into the air and then floppily float back down to the ground, never mind goofy stuff like the braided pain elemental beards or the peg-legged Cyberpirate.
