Yep, 2020 is over, and the very first day of 2021 has now arrived. So I only find it suiting to start off the new year with a brand-new interview (don’t you think?).
Well, this time I got a hold of Vince Desi (the CEO of RWS) and Mike Jaret (the Chief Bidet officer at RWS) from the Running with Scissors camp (I didn’t even have to wave a gun at them either! As both of them agreed to the interview out of their own free will. I swear, it’s the truth!).
Anyways, during our little sit-down interview section (don’t miss out on our 2016 RWS amd 2019 RWS interview!) we talked about everything from the history of how RWS came to be, the rise of the original “Postal” game, “Postal Redux“, “Postal 4“, RWS plans for the future, and their thoughts on censorship and cancel culture (I even managed to squeeze in some info about “POSTAL: Brain Damaged” at the very end of the interview).
So with that said, please enjoy our interview with Running with Scissors boys and girls =)
Robin TGG
Right off the bat, thank you so much for taking your time to do this interview with us =) And with that said, please go ahead and introduce yourself to our readers.
Vince RWS
I’m Vince Desi (VD), I run Running WIth Scissors.
MikeJ RWS
This is MikeJ (MJ), I am the Chief Bidet Officer at RWS!
Robin TGG
You know, now that I think about it. It’s pretty crazy how fast time goes sometimes, because as you might remember. I did an interview with you back in 2016, and another one with you back in 2019. So with that fresh in mind, could you perhaps tell us a bit about what Running with Scissors is all about?
Vince RWS
From the very beginning in 1996 RWS has always been about having FUN. The pure essence of gaming of any kind is to have fun, we just do it a little different, a little wackier. We’ve remained independent, it’s the only way we can protect our creativity and give our fans what they want.
MikeJ RWS
For me, it is something I knew about in high school, and was kind of thrown into when I was 20 years old….19 years later I am still here making this crazy shit…its a fuckin lifestyle!
Robin TGG
And while on the topic of RWS past, how the studio got started? Since not everyone might have read our previous interviews with RWS.
Vince RWS
RWS was born from a group of devs that were working on kids’ games at a company called RSP. We founded RWS for the sole purpose of making new mature games that we wanted to play ourselves. POSTAL reflected reality and society in general and I felt it was time to have some fun and humor, and to move beyond the obvious aliens and zombies of the times.
MikeJ RWS
RWS started before my time, but I have helped put the studio back together on a few different occasions, the most recent iteration came 100% from the fan community after we got POSTAL 1 & 2 on Steam back in 2012. This shit has really become a cult classic!
Robin TGG
The last time that we talked (which was back in 2019) your main focus was on ”Postal 4: No Regerts”. Well, the Early Access version of ”Postal 4” launched back in October of 2019, so how have things gone since then? And what have the response been like from the gaming media and the players?
Vince RWS
WOW WOW WOW, we are blessed with the greatest fans in the world, they have supported us from the very beginning and they are our #1 motivation. Even the Media, which historically hasn’t been “kind” is giving us applause. I thank everyone for its success.
MikeJ RWS
POSTAL 4……is a long-awaited dream come true for us. We got it out on a shoestring after years of trial and error, and have since expanded the team by over double and the game is truly becoming something we didn’t know was possible….THANK YOU to everyone who has helped in any way!
Robin TGG
Not so long ago you released “Dream of Scooter Fournication”, “Tread lightly” and “Frames, flares and feet” update for ”Postal 4”. Well, are you happy with how the updates turned out? And did your players enjoy the updates?
Vince RWS
We’ve worked very hard to maintain regular updates beyond each new release. Our fans deserve the best, and they have been very complimentary and supportive along the way. You know, now that I think about how you now can walk in your piss or poured gasoline, I’m laughing just answering this question.
MikeJ RWS
Giving people an update that ACTUALLY helped performance a lot was a huge load off our backs, bad performance is always a drag, especially for the people who paid for it. We still have a long way to go……but we are getting there! Giving people constant updates is what makes Early Access a cool experience, anyone who doesn’t update their game is robbing gamers of the development experience!
Robin TGG
Aren’t you guys very tempted to add some content to ”Postal 4” that has something to do with the US 2020 elections? And do you have some other future content ideas in mind for ”Postal 4”?
Vince RWS
In the past, the Postal Dude already ran for President and many would say the world would be better if he was real and actually was in charge. I think more than ever in my lifetime the media is full of shit and many people are beyond sick and tired of politics. I think letting POSTAL 4 simply be itself and provide an opportunity for pressure release, no need to jump into the fire.
MikeJ RWS
Obviously, we have plenty of ideas……the game isn’t fully done yet….but since I am the Mayor of Edensin, I would like to sell you a bidet!
Robin TGG
I’ve been enjoying ” POSTAL Redux” for quite some time on PC now, and in my opinion, it’s one of the best games that you’ve ever made. So with that said, I could be wrong now, but hasn’t ”Postal” remained a PC-title since the 90s? I recall that there were some talks about releasing ”Postal” to the PS1 back in the days, but it never happened. I have a slight memory of a mobile release of ”Postal” though.
Vince RWS
Yes, in the early days, the original plan was to have it released on all the consoles but, sadly the politics and media back then used us and POSTAL as a scapegoat to protect the game industry. We didn’t have the luxury of a big publisher funding us or having our back. On mobile years ago was a Postal Babes game, and the original was made for Android a long time ago. You can get it on our site www.gopostal.com
MikeJ RWS
POSTAL has been a PC-only title (aside from the android port and a couple of other mobile games)….but that is not for lack of wanting. The goal has ALWAYS been to have the game on console, and here we are!
Robin TGG
And that also leads us up to my follow-up question on the same subject. To my big surprise, out of absolutely nowhere, you just recently announced that “POSTAL Redux” is coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 16th (2020). So, how exactly did that happen?
Because Nintendo isn’t exactly well-known for allowing games of that kind on their platform, and how comes that you ended up releasing “POSTAL Redux” on the Nintendo Switch and no the PS4 or Xbox One?
Vince RWS
Surprise Surprise hahajaja…Nintendo has always been a leader in gaming for over a hundred years running, For many years the fans have been asking to have our games on console. WE ARE HONORED to have POSTAL REDUX on the Switch.
MikeJ RWS
We are currently waiting for MS and SONY approval for POSTAL Redux….So, cross your dicks!
Robin TGG
Will there be a big difference between the PC-version and the Nintendo Switch version of “POSTAL Redux”? And will the game offer anything new on the Switch? Or is it just a plain simple Switch port?
Vince RWS
It’s pretty much identical to the original, we are very pleased with the Switch version. Playing it on your 60” TV screen is fuckin awesome, the hand-painted backgrounds look amazing.
MikeJ RWS
Like Vince said…..Playing it on a 60″ tv with the Switch Pro Controller is an absolute delight! It won’t include co-op out of the gate, Co-op and a physical copy is potentially in the cards after launch!
Robin TGG
Just out of pure curiosity, will the Nintendo Switch version of ” POSTAL Redux” be toned down or censored in any kind of way?
Vince RWS
POSTAL is about fun and relentless gameplay, there never really was anything about it that should have been censored. 100% Go Postal!
MikeJ RWS
Uncut and Uncensored……All the POSTAL foreskin for you!
Robin TGG
Do you have any plans at all to release ”Postal 4” or “POSTAL Redux” to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X consoles? If so, do you think that it’s something that could happen during 2021?
Vince RWS
YES YES and YES, the world is ready,
MikeJ RWS
100%…….100 PERCENT!
Robin TGG
What’s it been like to work with Jon St. John (the voice of Duke Nukem) since his now the voice of the Postal Dude in ”Postal 4”? And do you plan to work more with Jon in the near future?
Vince RWS
The Postal Dude over the years has had different voice actors. I’ve always felt an important part of the PDude character is that he is anonymous. It’s great that the professional voice actor JSJ joined us for Postal 4.
MikeJ RWS
He’s a funny guy, and loves the character. There is plenty of POSTAL 4 left for him to record so…..be ready!
Robin TGG
Since it’s now 2021, you don’t happen to know when we will get a chance to play the full version of ”Postal 4”?
Vince RWS
We’re on schedule to have the full 1.0 release by summer ‘21. POSTAL 4 is structured on a weekly schedule, so next up is Wednesday, and trust me when I say you ain’t seen nothing yet.
MikeJ RWS
WEDNESDAY is next my man…..You’re waiting for WEDNESDAY….not the full game 🙂
Robin TGG
Now it’s time for me to turn up the heat a couple of notches. So, what’s your stance on PC/SJW madness in the current year? And feel free to chip in on BLM and US politics (the US 2020 election) if you want to.
Vince RWS
I’m a BIG believer in the 1st Amendment (Freedom of Speech, Religion, Peaceful Assembly…) and the 2nd Amendment (Right to bear arms). As a company, RWS has been discriminated against and POSTAL has been ‘banned and blacklisted’ yet it was the title that was presented to the Supreme Court in defense of our industry, and helped win and secure the freedom to make and sell games (I am forever honored). I enjoy my political independence and have no time for PC/SJW BS.
MikeJ RWS
Screw the haters….Everyone can play POSTAL…..like it or hate it…….
Robin TGG
What are your thoughts on cancel culture and censorship in the games industry? And what do you think we (gamers, game publishers, and game developers) could do to battle it?

Vince RWS
As a creative person who earns a living and supports many families being independent while still respecting those, I may disagree with I’m all for open-minded discussions. Cancel culture is Censorship. Personally, and I’ve always held this principle in our games-no abuse towards women and children, No excuses. Castrate rapists and pedos prior to execution.
MikeJ RWS
Make what you want to make, the people trying to cancel you will eventually go away…..just ignore them…. it’s like trying to fight piracy (GOOD LUCK).
Robin TGG
And now for our very final interview question for this time, what are your plans, hopes, and expectations for the rest of the year? And is there anything else that you would like to say to our readers before we wrap this interview up?
Vince RWS
I would like to thank all our fans and wish everyone a healthy and prosperous life. Love your neighbor, and your life will find its purpose.
MikeJ RWS
I just want to get a vasectomy…..is that too much to ask?
