I was just wondering when I (and others) would ever get a chance to play Studio Nanafushi’s lewd 2D Hack’n’Slash anime-like action/RPG game “Dead or School“, because I haven’t heard a word about the game since I posted my “Dead or School”post back in October of 2016 (and that wasn’t exactly yesterday).
Well, guess what? Nanafushi’s “Dead or School” is now available via Steam early access! (“Dead or School” launched on steam on the 11th of July, and its all yours for 11,24 Euros at the moment).
So, what exactly is “Dead or School” all about then? Well, here’s a brief description of the game and its story by Studio Nanafushi themselves:
“Zombies conquered the land of Tokyo. Without hope, in underground shelters, people lived quietly. Hisako, a girl who grew up underground, heard the word “school” from her grandmother. School is where children play and learn. It is a paradise for young people. The best place to spend their youth. Hisako dreamed of this “school”, and one day, she was on an underground train heading above ground. What awaits her? Despair…
Main character: HisakoGrew underground, in despair, while the surface world was controlled by zombies.Gifted with superior athletic abilities and a strong determination, her mind is unaffected. She faces the reality of the ground above. Her dreams are: Make many friends, and play in school!Though, she does not like studying… ” – Studio Nanafushi
As for features, quite a lot of things have been changed on that front since my post from 2016, but these are the current launch features for “Dead or School”:
Defeat enemies, grow your own character. Collect items, create your own most powerful weapons! Hack and Slash X Girl’s action.
Gain many skills by advancing the player’s level. Dynamic actions become possible, when various weapon skills are combined. Make your own unique character!
Gain many skills by advancing the player’s level. Dynamic actions become possible, when various weapon skills are combined.
Notice the changes in the player, when a certain level of damage is received. Pay attention to the status, caused by damaged clothes.
Increasing your collection raises your parameters. Various souvenirs scattered around, people in need of assistance…Try to collect a variety of items within the game!
Battle of Tokyo:
Shinjuku, Asakusa, Akihabara and Roppongi…Save Tokyo’s towns that are filled with Zombies. “Here I come! On an underground train!”
Various action moves: Holding a ceiling, lifting things etc… together with usual actions moves, clear difficult stages, move on to the next level.
Many of the enemy:
Now gigantic monsters rule above ground. Huge spiders live in Tokyo Tower, Asakusa’s Sensoji temple is occupied by thunderers… Don’t let tough enemies attack you and get in your way!
That sounds pretty good right? Well, that’s just the half of it. You see, since July 12th Studio Nanafushi has released tons of updates for “Dead or School” (v1.10 was released July 12th, and v1.16 was released today). Simply put, that means that Nanafushi intends to improve and make “Dead or School” even better (which is a good thing of course). Other than that, “Dead or School” has received a handful of positive reviews on Steam since its release.
As for me though, I’m going to wait until the complete version of “Dead or School” launches. Because I intend to review the game myself (thus the reason why I want to play the non early access version of “Dead or School”). Anyways, I think you get the idea.
Nevertheless, if you’re still not quite sure whether or not “Dead or School” is your kind of game or not, then you could just watch the new trailer for the game further down the page (the latest “Dead or School” trailer was uploaded to Youtube on the 11th of July) and then make up your mind about the game.
And with that said, what’s your take on “Dead or School”? And will you buy the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
