There seems to be no end to the madness that goes down in our world right now. I mean, is it not enough with all the Internet wars and “real” wars that are tearing the world apart? Obviously not, because now we also have to worry about whether or not our favorite voice actor might be a pedophile. Yes, I’m talking about the English anime voice actor Scott Freeman (Freeman was charged with eight counts of possession of child pornography back in April last year, and he was pled guilty on the 30th of July this year). The very same Freeman who has lent out his voice to animes and games such as:

Attack on Titan: Ian Dietrich
High School D×D: Issei Hyoudou
Initial D: Atsuro Kawai
Guilty Crown: Oogumo
Soul Eater: Havar D. Eclair
Smite: Agni and Thanatos

Scott Freeeman is no longer a part of the Funimation family.

I found out about all of this earlier today. In fact, I heard about it when I saw some really angry rants from some of Freeman´s fans on Twitter less than two hours ago. And their reactions is fully understandable, as Freeman´s crimes will drag even more drama and negative karma into the Anime community (Anime fans have had a bad reputation for quite sometime now. And Freeman hasn’t exactly made the situation any better). However, it seems like there have been somewhat blended emotions over Freeman´s child-porn scandal (Scott will serve a three-year long jail sentence for his crimes ). Sure, people have condemned his crimes and sins. Nevertheless, his fanbase appears to be divided into two camps when it comes to forgiving him, and showing respect for Freeman´s previous works in his carer (as seen in the pictures down below).

“Gintama” is a great anime though.

Nevertheless, Scott Freeman will still have to spend three years of his life in jail.

True, you can´t take away Scott´s previous characters and creations. However, it will be hard to not think about his crimes.

Personally, I´m still having a hard time to coop with this. Since I never thought that Scott Freeman could do something like this. Then again, I have to agree with what Branden said (his a behindthevoiceactors user):

My heart goes out to his friend and co-workers that they thought they knew.At times like these I have a saying: “appreciate the artists work, not the artist”. Do not mistake me, there is no excuse for what he’s done. But there’s no doubt that fans will still enjoy his previous work. So what can I say? I wish that Scott Freeman has gotten help at an early stage so that he wouldn´t have ended up in this situation. Now I just hope that he will clean up his act while his serving of his time in prison. As for Freeman´s voice acting carer, I think he’d better think about getting a new carer as soon as he gets out of jail. As Funimation has terminated their contract with him.
