Independent developer Maxim Games today announced their debut title, “Klotzen! Panzer Battles“, a World War 2 turn based operational strategy game utilizing a hex based map system, is available now on PC via Steam with a 10% launch discount available until May 4th.

Offering up countless outcomes to real life historical military campaigns through different scenarios, strategy game fans will have the opportunity to completely rewrite the history books. Players and budding strategists will be able to affect historical timelines and outcomes, from initiating the allied invasion of Normandy a year earlier in 1943, or even executing successful assaults on London or the USA.

Klotzen! Panzer Battles offers up 26 historical, and close to 40 counterfactual scenarios, along with the random campaign-changing events. Players can also customize their own historical scenarios with the games built in editor.

Klotzen! Panzer Battles will test the tactics and counter strategies of many armchair generals through the flexible AI which leaves room for mistakes in lower settings and detects tactical and strategic mistakes and exploits them on higher, more challenging difficulties.

A full military contingent of land, sea and air assets can be brought to bear as players conduct campaigns in over 60 different historical scenarios based on real-life military campaigns from WW2. Map environments are diverse, with varying terrain from the frozen tundra of the Eastern Front to the searing hot landmass of the North African desert, map sizes vary too, ranging from 200 km to over 1000 km in size.

Players will have access to an arsenal of over 700 beautifully rendered unit types divided into 22 unit classes, including infantry, tanks and tank hunters, fighter planes, bombers, submarines, battleships and more. Players will be able to utilize air power to cripple supply lines, land units to seize key towns or engage naval units in ship to ship combat.

We’ve created a branching campaign that combines ‘what-if’ based scenarios and customizable situations, backed up by a deep, multi-layered turn based mechanic with replayability at its heart”, said Zoran Stanic, Lead Developer of Maxim Games.

With over 100 commander skills to choose from to customize their units, players are challenged in campaign mode, where commanders and player units are carried over from scenario to scenario, or a standalone mode where players can choose either Axis or Allied units to command.
