We were just contacted by a small indie developer called Bable Games (it´s a indie studio from Venezuela), because they wanted to show us their upcoming 2D Hack and Slash Rpg “Blind Edge” (for Android and Windows). Well, I just checked out the Indiegogo trailer for “Blind Edge.” And I have to agree with the developers that the game really made you think about games such as Megaman, Metroid and Castlevania (“Blind Edge” also made me think about another indie game called “Iji”). I could probably add “Ninja Gaiden” to the “retro games” list as well (as you´re running around with a big sword in “Blind Edge”).
However, that´s where the similarities ends. As “Blind Edge” aims to take the 2D platform genre to the next level by mixing action, hack and slash with elements from the RPG genre (like character development, stats, experience and modification abilities). That sure sounds great in theory, but will Bable Games be able to execute this formula properly? I really hope so, as I like the game concept and the thought of having a game like this for both PC and mobile (Android).
There is just one “little” problem, “Blind Edge” needs to collect $6,000 on Indiegogo within 32 days from now in-order to be successfully funded. And since Bable Games is a brand-new (and relativity unknown) indie developer from Venzuala. They will probably have to work really, really hard for them to get the word out about “Blind Edge” (thus my article about the game). Oh well, time will tell I guess. I (we) wish Babel Games the best of luck with “Blind Edge”!
Stretch goals:
$10,000 – story mode
$15,000 – new equipment
$20,000 – Character creation
$30,000 – Open world
$50,000 – PVP mode
$80,000 – ????
