I´ve been wanting to interview Krissy Victory for quite sometime now, because I find her to be a really talented cosplayer. Well, I got the opportunity to sit down with Victory just recently. So we talked about everything from her cosplaying, video games, to her thoughts on racism towards black cosplayers.
Robin TGG
Let´s kick off this interview with an introduction. So go ahead and present yourself for our readers Krissy.
Krissy
Hello, My name is Krissy Victory I’m a cosplayer from USA. I’m also an actress and a voice actress. I also write convention reviews for you guys haha!
Robin TGG
For how long have you cosplayed? And what was it that made you decide to become a cosplayer yourself?
Krissy
I have been cosplaying since 2012! My friend pushed me in it, and I fell in love with the concept I absolutely love being characters I enjoy, Halloween is my favorite holiday.
Robin TGG
Back in July last year you made a Youtube video called “Black cosplay”. Could you tell us a bit why you made that video? And what the video was all about?
Krissy
I made that video last year because I was getting fed up with all the criticism and rudeness that is considered what most people turn a blind eye too in the community. People saying I ruin characters because of my skin tone calling me a monkey or an ape. It was pretty disgusting. I decided to make an empowerment video, that despite the bs as a black cosplayer YOU are NOT alone!
Robin TGG
Which of your cosplays would be the best one to date according to yourself?
Krissy Victory
Best cosplay to date is Finn because John Boyega approved it in general. BOOM! Best cosplay right there.
Robin TGG
Are there any cosplays that you would never do? If so, why?
Krissy Victory
Storm because it’s the most requested cosplay people want me to do, and from the beginning I said I’d never want to cosplay her. I refuse to be put into box and do whoever I want not what someone is pushing me to do.
Robin TGG
Which Con and game event is the best one in your opinion when it comes to cosplay and games?
Krissy Victory
That would be for me personally Pax East and NYCC best of both worlds and you can be dressed up enjoying it!
Robin TGG
Do you create everything for your cosplays yourself? If so, which cosplay have you spended the most time on?
Krissy Victory
Not everything, there are times where I am in a rush for a con or a costume was on sale and decided to grab it, but I still make half of them most of the time I am creating my own props. Cosplay I spent the most time on was Popstar Ahri I made it myself and boy that was a challenge for a newbie. Took me 2 months of planning but made in two weeks.
Robin TGG
Do you have any fun (or embarrassing) cosplay stories that you could share with us?
Krissy Victory
When I was Tigerlilly from Peterpan all these kids ran up to me super excited calling me Pocahontas. I easily get embarrassed rolled with the punches and told them I am but I laughed about it hard afterwards.
Robin TGG
Are there any cosplayers that you look up to? And do you have any personal favorites?
Krissy Victory
I look up to all my friends I’m a little biased. I have lot’s of friends though so its hard to be specific. By default I always talk about my two friends who inspired me to get better with skill. Diamond Dog costuming and Sweets4asweetcosplay.
Robin TGG
Have you been a Gamer and anime fan for a long time? Which games and animes do you love the most?
Krissy Victory
Since I was born I was a gamer and anime fan! My favorite game of all time will always be Eternal Darkness because the creepy psychological factor! I am also a fan of MGS series, Silent Hill series, Bioshock series and so many more games!Currently, Overwatch has my heart as well! My favorite anime would be NANA. Other animes I enjoy is Golden time Gundam Wing, Another, Corpse Party. Huge variety of different animes out there hahah!
Robin TGG
Which games do you play right now? And which games do you look most forward to be playing? (upcoming games).
Krissy Victory
Overwatch, Bravely second, WAW, Amnesia: Shattered memories. Games I look forward playing? The new final fantasy coming out for sure I played the BETA and I was super hyped same with the new Kingdom Hearts game!
Robin TGG
Which country has the best cosplayers and the best cosplay scene in your opinion?
Krissy Victory
In my opinion, it would be South Korea. I seen it with my own guys at their conventions and people have mad skill there. It’s more hidden and secretive which I am personally neutral about . But to me it doesn’t matter because they rock the house when they do cosplay!

It´s been years since the last time I watched Disney´s “Pocahontas”- Well, Krissy made me want to watch the movie asap.
Robin TGG
Have you ever meet any famous cosplayers when you visited Con´s and such? If so, do you have any nice starstruck moments that you could share with us?
Krissy Victory
I don’t consider anyone famous believe it or not! Hahaha All my other friends say all the people I hangout with are famous but to me we are all people.
Robin TGG
Some would say that cosplay qualifies as an art form. Do you agree on that?
Krissy Victory
I agree that cosplay is an artform its costume design and crafting. Prop makers creating elaborate detailed props. Girls and boys making ballgowns, LED swords, armor sets it is an art form you wear and model which is super cool!
Robin TGG
Do you have any cosplay plans, goals and dreams for this year?
Krissy Victory
I hope to finish my armor set by Dragoncon, I would love to guest at more cons but that feels like a hard dream to accomplish. I would also like to complete my first milestone on my new Patreon. May my following grow to meet and inspire others! Goals is to get better with crafting as well!
