Even though I´ve been keeping a close eye on the cosplay scene for at least eight years time now, I seem to have missed out big time when it comes to Australian cosplayers (shame on me!). Well, I´m about to dive deep into the Australian cosplay scene right here and right now. So please bear with me people! And right off the bat, thanks to an Australian friend of mine, I was informed about the “SEXPO” convention (the event will take place at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from November 24-27). And yes, you guess it.
SEXPO is a +18 event. So that means that there will be a lot of sexy ladies and guys who will show off their naughty cosplays on-site at the SEXPO event in November this year (the adult star Lucie Bee will be the hostess of the event). And not only that, one could also win a lot of cash on site ($2,000, so I´ve been told). Well, at least if you´re the lucky one that ends up being crowned Mr. or Miss. SEXPO cosplay winner of the year that is (I wish you the best of luck!).
And while we´re on the subject of “naughty” and “kinky” cosplays. As you might already know, quite a few sexy cosplayers that have had a hard time at Comic-Con´s and game events in the past (Jessica Nigri´s Lollipop Chainsaw incident at PAX East 2012, or Ashley Riot´s sexy Cammy cosplay at CEO 2016, for example). So the SEXPO event is a golden opportunity for those who wants to show off their sexy cosplay creations without ending up getting thrown out from the convention. Because let´s face it, there are plenty of those who get “offended”, “triggered” by “aggressive navels” out there. However, none of that will be a problem at the SEXPO, since the event is for (and by) adults.
And that means that everything goes. So we´re going to see a lot of sexy female and male cosplays. In the matter of fact, this is the actual description of the event:
“SEXPO offers a haven for cosplayers who prefer a sexier angle to their cosplay. Whether you love crafting costumes, playing a character or you simply want a safe space in which to dress up and enjoy yourself; it doesn’t matter what age, gender or shape you are, or if you’re a cosplay novice or expert – we invite you to enter the Sexy Cosplay Competition.”
And that means that you have a 100% creative freedom to do whatever you want. And that could be anything from:
– Sexy Superhero or Villain
– Your number-one adult star from your favorite movie
– Video game characters
– Anything you can imagine (there are no restrictions or limits to what you can, and cannot do)
– Create a sexy and naughty version of your favorite TV or movie star
– Latex, bondage, kind or leather cosplay, anything goes!
So who know´s? We might even see cosplayers such as Gabrielle Louise, Artisan’s Theory and CatRoulette? Well, time will tell I guess. And speaking of sexy and kinky, there is a rise of appetite for older generations in Australia (male as female). And that´s also why sites such as milf-area (NSFW!) have started to become really popular in Australia. So there “might” be a rise of “older” male and female cosplay goers at SEXPO this year? Well, we will know for sure when the SEXPO event kicks-off in November at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
