Well, talk about being a nice coincidence. You see, I (Robin Ek, TGG) have been told that we should play, review and write more about sci-fi-related games. So just when I was thinking about the matter (what I should write about), I/we received an e-mail about Indelve’s upcoming sci-fi Mars colony game “Initiative: Red Dawn” (the game is in development for PC and runs on the Unity Engine). Well, here’s what Indelve had to say:
“Hey Robin, Initiative: RedDawn is a game about building and growing your aerospace company and making human life interplanetary. The goal is to take our race beyond Earth’s blue skies and conquer the unknown.
But we are not doing this alone. A lot of people at NASA, SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin and more, are joining to be part of the game as technical advisors and content creators, and they’ll also be represented in-game as hirable NPCs (Talents). We have the code, we have the art, we need backers. Backers like director Pablo de Leon, and technician Jammal Wright. Backers like NSFTA founder Allen D. Crider and test engineer Samira Virani. Come on you apes, do you wanna liv… oh sorry, I got carried away.
Your journey begins on Earth, expands to your space station, slingshots on your outpost on the Moon, and takes you to the unknown with the creation of a self-sustainable colony on Mars. In order to do that, you’ll have to hire different scientists, engineers and specialists; but it won’t be an easy task, as each and every agency out there will be trying to get their hands on the same Talents. You’ll need to research all the technologies required to design, assemble and launch your rockets. Space conquest is not for the faint of heart.
After listening to all the challenges that await you, if you still wanna join the Initiative, you’ll be able to do it on August 22nd, on our Kickstarter campaign. We need you all. Backing guarantees rewards.” – Indelve
In other words, Indelve will launch their Kickstarter campaign for “Initiative: Red Dawn” on the 22nd of August. However, it’s just to be known how much money Indelve is going to ask for. So I guess that we have to wait until Initiative’s Kickstarter page goes live. As for here and now though, here’re the main features list for the game:
– Competitive: compete against others in a ladder system
– Cooperative: form or become part of a Holding to join forces
– Rocket design: Design and assemble your rockets from lots of different parts
– Base building: construct your base on Earth with buildings
– Assemble your team: hire the Talents you need for your company before your competitors
– Rocket launching: plan your missions and launch your unique rockets
-Technology tree: research you way into the technology that will get you on Mars before others
– Corporate war: defend yourself from vicious attacks like hacks, sabotages, Talent poaching and stealing… and cause them
– Contracts: keep your cash flow positive by getting and fulfilling contracts from governments and private companies
– Colonies: own a space station and an outpost on the moon to enhance your main base, reduce shipping costs and mine asteroids
Other than that, you can watch the very first gameplay trailer for “Initiative: Red Dawn” further down the page (don’t forget to check out the cinematic trailer as well).
