Well, this sure came as a big surprise for me at least. As I had no idea (whatsoever) who Rob McElhenney was, until now, that it is. However, it´s true as Mojang has chosen Rob McElhenney to direct the Minecraft movie. This became publicly known when Mojang published a post on their homepage yesterday:

“Hello there!

Some of you may have seen this guy hanging around MINECON in London a couple weeks ago. He’s Rob McElhenney, and he’s going to be directing the upcoming Minecraft movie.” – Vu (@vubui), Mojang

So who is Rob McElhenney then? Well, he has starred in movies such as “Wonder Boys,” “Latter Days” and “The Tollbooth,” and directed for TV-series such as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Lost” and “The Mindy Project.”. To be honest though, I know very little about McElhenney´s past (and present) creations, so I’m not quite sure what I should feel about having him as the director for the Minecraft movie. Then again, I’m really glad to hear that it´s not Uwe Boll that´s been chosen to direct Minecraft the movie.
