The entertainment industry has been completely transformed in the last decade. With the rise in fast and reliable home internet connections (especially with the rollout of fiber internet access), there are many more ways to be entertained in the home. For example, in recent years, the music industry has changed dramatically.

Consumers once bought physical copies of their favorite albums in the form of compact disks. These were then replaced by downloading music to a portable storage device (such as the iPod) in mp3 format.

Now, most music lovers stream music rather than purchasing or downloading it and use smart devices such as the Amazon Alexa to enjoy millions of tracks from the world’s best artists. In this article, some other key developments in home entertainment will be described.

Online casinos

Online casinos became a reality after the 1994 free trade and processing act made their creation legal. Early online casinos were far less sophisticated than their modern-day counterparts due to the system limitations on computers from the 1990s and the slower speed of internet connections. Graphics were poor quality compared to today’s games, and their functionality was limited.

In 2023, games are far more immersive and match the atmosphere and authenticity of high-class bricks and mortar casinos with live dealer facilities and chat options. In addition, many online casinos now offer substantial welcome bonuses and rewards for returning customers.

Sites such as www.freeextrachips.com provide listings of casinos that feature these special offers. Visiting such sites can help you to choose which bonus or promotion is suitable for your needs or favorite games.

Put simply, there is now a vast range of online casino sites, with many offering bonuses of some form. It makes sense to compare the offerings of modern casinos so that you get the best deal.

The rise of streaming services

As previously mentioned, music is now streamed by millions of consumers rather than downloading or buying physical copies of albums and singles. The same transition has taken place with films and TV series. Once, film lovers would visit their local movie rental store to watch a film. Today, there are several dedicated film and TV streaming services that allow on-demand viewing to take place.

Globally, the video streaming industry is now worth approximately $554 billion and is projected to rise further with an estimated CAGR of 19.3% to 2030. However, the streaming of video games has been less successful. Industry giants Google shut down their Stadia video games streaming platform after it was less popular than anticipated.

VR gaming

Virtual reality gaming is still in its early stages of development, but the potential for this technology is immense. At present, VR headsets cannot match the processing power or graphical capabilities of the best gaming PCs or next generation consoles, but it is only a matter of time before they achieve this. They do provide an incredibly immersive gaming experience with fully rendered worlds that can be enjoyed in full VR.

Many gamers are willing to accept the reductions in graphical capabilities for an experience that cannot be equaled by viewing the action on a monitor or TV screen. The future of VR gaming is assured, and it is likely that there will be substantial improvements to this tech before the current decade finishes.
