Illusion Connect, Superprism’s likeable shojo RPG, is about to get its first major in-game event, less than a month after it arrived on mobile.
The Tourney at Bloomsea City starts on the 21st of November amid a “swirling clash of reality and dreams”. Neat! It introduces a pair of new characters, as well as giving you the chance to win items, achievements, and more.
First up, there’s a limited-time dungeon where Leaders can obtain Martial Tea by overcoming challenges. If you manage to collect enough, you’ll win achievements and the chance to nab special items in the event shop.
Meanwhile the Contest of Strength mode is probably the main attraction in the Tourney, letting Leaders cheer on their chosen partners and their guilds in exchange for items, bragging rights, and so much more.
Illusion Connect’s first major event also introduces two brand new partners to cheer on, deployed by the Phoenix Consortium – one of the game’s six factions – specially for the occasion.
Brooke is a Houhou family retainer who grew up under the tutelage of the Old Man of the South Pole. She’s a religious sort, inspired by the will of the heavens, but that doesn’t keep her from being a brutal threat on the battlefield.
For example, she’s given her axe a name: Hiranaka. This formidable weapon is so sharp that it can slice through armor as if it were paper, just as God intended.
She’s joined by Ming, a “self-trained doctor” and humanitarian. Ming is the exclusive physician to the Houhou family.
Rumor has it that Ming lets her ferret Yam sleep on her medical box, and in battle she strikes her foes with it. Yam, meanwhile, earns his keep by savaging enemies with his teeth.
As well as being a fearsome warrior, Ming can also heal her teammates – and whenever she heals Brooke, she allows her comrade to unleash a devastating mortal blow.
