This is what you need to do when you face the guards at the temple.
Many weird and wonderful creatures are going to be encountered during your time in Old School Runescape. Many will present you with opportunities to earn OSRS gold, so that you can purchase OSRS items for sale that you have been looking for. The monkey guard is an interesting encounter that takes place in the game, and we will be discussing the facts you need to know to overcome them.
The Monkey Guard
You may consider finding OSRS gold for sale in order to prepare accordingly for the monkey guard. You can find them in the Temple of Marimbo, which is a location on Ape Atoll. In the temple, the guards are found on the ground floor, as well as on the first floor.
The reason as to why you need to prepare as much as possible to take down the guards is because of the high amount of health that they possess. To boast alongside their high health, they have high hitting power, with deadly punches reaching up to 14. Not only that, but they can also heal themselves with 25 hitpoints as their health gets lower. This will be indicated by an animation in which they start to beat their chests. As they get roughly 20% of their health back, they can be quite troublesome.
Another variety of these guards that you have to contend with is the bearded monkey guards. These versions can be tricky since you can’t walk through them to get to the dungeon’s exit. Their method of attack is to form a parameter around you, which will stop you from getting out of the dungeon. If you do want to avoid a situation like this, then keep a look out for the trapdoor that has a ladder nearby.
How to Kill the Monkey Guard
They may have sounded tough so far given their description, but there are ways in which you can defeat these guards. Before you go rushing to buy OSRS gold, you should first know all about the technique to kill them, which you can do as a melee player even if your combat stats are low. You will be able to get their health points down to around 26 by simply using standard attacks.
Once you have done so, you can then poison your enemy. Use a super poisoned weapon such as a dragon dagger to poison the monkey guard, after which you can create some distance between yourself and the guard. Get out of range, and the monkey guard should succumb to the poison before it has the time to heal.
A useful spot to use this evasion technique would be in the bottom left corner of the room. Here in the south-western corner of the temple, there is a ladder where you will be able to stay safe from your enemies.
Advantages of Fighting Monkey Guards
If you have read this far or have fought the guards before already, then you will be aware of their ability to heal themselves. This trait can actually be a benefit, thanks to the presence of an altar within the temple. You can use Protect from Melee when fighting the guards to get your combat stats up.
You’ll be boosting prayers as well as you progress through the battles. That said, the fact that the guards have a considerable amount of health. Their ability to heal themselves makes them difficult, but it also gives you more time to train with them and ultimately gain more experience from fighting them.
With an altar there, you have a place to go to when you are low on prayer. Though you do get more experience from them being able to heal, it does mean that you’ll often find it hard to get their bones since they are hard to kill.
If you’re willing to invest your OSRS gp in getting more armour to help you here, then try out armours that will boost your prayer and strength. You should probably favour strength boosting a bit more than prayer, since you have an altar in the location where you fight the guards. Being aware of the nearby spiders is important too. To prepare for this, take some antipoisons with you. This will stop you from getting held back by the level 1 spiders that can poison you.
With a bit of investing with OSRS gold, you shouldn’t run into too much trouble against the monkey guards. Just be aware of the high health that they have, and use it to your advantage to train yourself even further.
