The world of gaming has grown immensely over the years. We’ve been blessed with some incredible video games and top-notch platforms to play them on! Of course, it’s safe to say that not all games and gaming platforms have been as well-received as expected.

While some consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were praised for their capabilities, others practically vanished into obscurity. Many excellent platforms are criminally underappreciated in today’s gaming space, so to hopefully make up for that, here are some underrated ones that are worth a second glance.

Online Casinos

Online casinos are easily some of the most underrated gaming platforms currently out there. While they’re smash-hits with the typical casino crowd, they’re sadly ignored in the larger gaming space. There are plenty of reasons why online casinos are worth your time. Mainly, these platforms host a variety of incredibly high-quality games! These include old-school classics like Poker and Blackjack and modern fast-paced titles in the slots category.

What makes online casinos even better is the focus they put on their users. These platforms frequently offer casino bonuses to make gameplay more interesting and build on their game collections by adding new titles regularly. Thanks to the winning combination of gameplay boosts and fun titles, online casinos can undoubtedly provide hours of fun. So, whether you prefer playing on PC or mobile, giving them a shot is a good idea.

PlayStation Vita

In the grand scheme of things, the PlayStation Vita wasn’t exactly what we’d call a commercial success. The 2012 console didn’t do too badly on release, but the sales of the unit weren’t nearly as good as some of Sony’s previous handheld console releases. We’re not exactly sure why the PlayStation Vita didn’t receive the praise it deserved, but the console was tossed aside by most PlayStation fans and Sony itself, who quickly moved on to the PlayStation 4, which was released the year after.

While most people seem to have forgotten about the PlayStation Vita altogether, the console still has a pretty active niche community of fans that can’t get enough of everything it has to offer. The console supports some incredible games, including Mortal Kombat, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and several titles in the Persona franchise! We 100% recommend giving the PlayStation Vita a go if you can find one for a reasonable price, especially now that the modding community has gotten its hands on it!

Retro Gaming Consoles

It probably won’t come as a surprise that retro gaming is alive and well right now. No matter how much time has passed, players around the globe keep returning to some of their old-school favorites from decades ago! Of course, we can’t say that we blame them. While there have been some exciting releases recently, the nostalgia that older games tend to elicit is practically irreplaceable! Because of this, popular NES, Gameboy, and titles from the original PlayStation are still thriving.

Most of the time, players tend to replay these games on their PCs or smartphones. While we can’t fault them for going with the most convenient option, there are tons of retro gaming consoles out there made exactly for this reason! These consoles were made to recreate the overall experience of playing these retro games in their original form. So, if you’re in it to relive some of your best childhood moments, we recommend ditching the emulators and getting one of them.
