The Summit 3 begins in a day’s time, and we have great teams giving us greater games.
5 Days, 16 Matches. The most popular studio-run tournament is coming back for its 3rd iteration. The introduction for the tournament will begin at 13th May UTC 1600 PDT 0900, CEST 1800, SGT 0000 (14th May). The Group stage is as follows:
Day 1 and 2 – Playoff Seeding (BO3) All times are in CEST.
13th May 1830 hrs: VG vs RAVE – VG should win the game. RAVE has had a dearth of performances this year, only participating in Major All-Stars and Dota 2 Asia Championships, finishing 7-8th and 5-6th equal place respectively. VG, on the other hand, finished top 2 in every tournament they attended so far, 2nd in D2CL and DAC, 1st in VPGame Pro League and StarLadder Season 12.
13th May 2100hrs: C9 vs EG – C9 should win the game. Simply put, C9 has had more competitive experience in the current patch. EG’s last professional game was April 13th, I would not discount their surprise factor, but C9’s recent performances against Alliance and Empire give me more confidence in their abilities.
14th May 0000 hrs: [Winner Finals] VG (Tentative) vs EG(Tentative) – VG should win the game. They have been dominant in patch 6.84, and their recent loss to Empire would have made them rethink the patch a little. Look for more creative drafts from VG, perhaps we’ll finally see a Winter Wyvern!
14th May 1830 hrs: iG vs Team Secret – iG should win the game. The real story behind Team Secret’s victory against iG in RedBull Battlegrounds was Team Secret’s 2-0 sweep after being two games down. iG might lack the precise teamwork necessary to sustain a BO5, but they have no problem taking BO3’s with their momentum-based playstyle.
14th May 2100 hrs: Not Today vs LGD – LGD should win the game. I want to believe in Not Today, especially after their previous The Summit 2 run. Unfortunately, LGD is no slouch, and if director 8 (xiao8) gets the team together, they will have no problem taking down Not Today, especially with a Ti-winning captain drafting for them.
15th May 0000 hrs: [Winner Finals] iG (Tentative) vs LGD (Tentative) – LGD should win the game. With these pairing, any team can win the game. If LGD is brought together by xiao8 as a team, they will have no problem taking down iG. That said, if Team Secret wins iG, then Team Secret will take down LGD in similar fashion.
Days 3-5 (15th May to 17th May) : The Playoffs, each day starting at 1800 hrs, ending at 0500 hrs the following day.
