Batman: Arkham Knight will be rated M for mature as ruled by the ear ratings board. This comes as a surprise to many fans, and even the founder of Rock steady studios Sefton Hill himself.
Speaking with IGN, Hill stated that the team never intended for the game to be M for mature–rather it was a story they sincerely wanted to tell.
On the subject of how the M rating will affect sales Hill stated:
“I’m not blind to the fact that [the M rating] does mean some fans will miss out… I don’t want to be oblivious to that fact. It would have been wrong to water down the game and deliver a story we didn’t believe in to keep the game ‘mass market’ or enable it for more people. We feel that’s the wrong way to go about it. We said we love the story and we don’t want to jepoardize that.”
The fact that Batman: Arkham Knight has received a mature rating is sure to tell fans that they’re In for a tumultuous ride through Gotham.
Aside from this Rock steady has boasted that the vast array of gadgets has been upped for our caped crusader, and will have a more practical use throughout the campaign.
Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled for release June 2, 2015.
