June 16th, 2015, Stockholm, Sweden

What do Paradox, DICE, King, Mojang and Supercell all have in common? They are all Nordic companies who have changed the rules of the gaming industry in different ways. Considering the size of the region this is nothing short of remarkable. Claimony, in co-operation with Paradox Interactive, hails Nordic gaming’s ingenuity by hosting a contest in one of the latest mega hits Cities: Skylines.

The latest in the row of blockbusters is Cities: Skylines, a game developed in Finland by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive from Sweden. 24 hours after launch the game had sold 250 000 copies, reaching 1 million in a month. The game is similar to legendary Sim City but open for player modifications,
just like Swedish Minecraft.

It’s no surprise that successes like these give rise to new ideas, startups and gaming related educations in the Nordics. The latest example? Area08, an eSports summer camp, hosted by eSport giants Ninjas in Pyjamas and the event agency Eventosaurus.

“These stories have certainly paved way for us and many other companies within the gaming sector. Above all it’s very inspiring and motivates us to create something unique.”, says Björn Torstensson, CEO of Claimony – a community where gamers are rewarded for their in-game achievements.

To pay homage to these success stories, Claimony will continue to promote Nordic games. After recently finishing the Wizard World Championships in Magicka 2 they hereby announce a new contest in aforementioned Cities: Skylines starting on June 22nd. During the contest, achievements in the game will be boosted with
extra value. The constructor of finest representation of “Claimonyville” will be rewarded with a premium prize pack from Logitech and the top achiever wins a photowall with city motive from photowall.com.

“After the success with the Magicka 2 competition, we are delighted to once again team up with Claimony and deliver an exciting contest for all city planners out there.”, says John Rickne, Community Manager at Paradox Interactive.
