Some of you might not be all that familiar with Project Soul and Namco´s fighting game “Soul Edge” (aka “Soul Blade” in Europe, USA and Australia), but in my case. I know the game more than well, as my uncle bought the game for his PS1 back in 1996 (the arcade game was released in 1995). You see. I have always liked fighting games (that´s mainly “Street Fighter 2´s” fault), and when I started to play “Virtua Fighter” and “Tekken”. I became even more interested in fighting games, so when I got the chance to play “Soul Edge” at my uncle’s place by the end of 1996. I got blown away by the awesome graphics, the intense fights and the kick-ass soundtrack (not to mention a whole bunch of cool fighters).

“Soul Blade” (aka “Soul Edge”) earned itself, a lot of good grades and plenty of fans shortly after its release in 1996.

And if you´re a fan of “Soul Edge”, then you probably know that the follow-up game is “Soulcalibur” (which got released back in 1998 for Dreamcast and Arcades). And as we all know, the “Soulcalibur” series are pretty well-known among fighting fans. That´s great of course. However, quite a lot of people seem to have forgotten all about “Soul Edge” (no “Soul Edge”, no “Soulcalibur”). And I find that to be rather sad, because I think that the game deserves to be remembered.

This awesome”Soul Edge” art tribute was made by crescentdebris.

That´s also why I got really happy earlier today when I  received the following message from Game-Art-HQ´s Reinhold Hoffmann:

“Heya, thought our latest Video Game Art Collaboration could be interesting for you to write about maybe. We are a non-profit community of gamers from all over the world and created a little 20th Anniversary Art Collaboration about SoulEdge, also known as SoulBlade in the west, the game that started the SoulCalibur fighting game series by Namco. We drew the characters like Siegfried, Taki, Voldo and Cervantes in their classic designs from 1996 and also described each of them. Would be cool to see the word about it shared on thegg

Greets, Reinhold Hoffmann Game-Art-HQ”

In other words, if you like awesome art and “Soul Edge”, then don´t miss out on Game-Art-HQ´s epic  20th Anniversary Soul Edge art collection tribute. And trust me on this, you really don´t want to miss their art creations.
