I have written about WAM! (Women, Action, and the Media) in the past. But i had no idea that WAM! had done a “harassment on Twitter analysis” on #GamerGate. But it´s true. In fact, you can read that analysis right now if you want too. As it´s available for everyone to read online for free. That´s great right? Well, most people would welcome that kind of analysis.
As #GamerGate has been blamed for a lot of things (mainly harassment on Twitter) since August last year. But even so, there has been very few in-deep analysis on #GamerGate´s harassment´s (on Twitter for example). So i found it to be somewhat odd that some people complained to WAM! that their analysis of #GamerGate was not correct.
As they just couldn´t accept (coop with) the data and statics that WAM! presented in their #GamerGate analysis (probably because the analysis speaks more for than it speaks against #GamerGate). I see it like this though. The more people who start to do #GamerGate analysis the better. As there´s a huge difference between make believe and actual statics, numbers, evidence and facts.
And if you wonder what kind of institution WAM! would be. Then this is how they describe themselves on the WAM! homepage:
“WAM! is an independent North American nonprofit dedicated to building a robust, effective, inclusive movement for gender justice in media. We hope you’ll join us!” – WAM!
So there you have it. So what do you think about WAM´s #GamerGate analysis? Is it accurate? Or is false?
