I sure missed out on some really good news last year (it was a really busy time for me, on more than one level).

Because i had no idea that Josef Fares (and the core team from “Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons“) had started a brand new game studio called “Hazelight” (fancy name that).

But it´s true, and that become known after Josef Fares speech at The Game Awards last year. And at this very moment, Josef (and his crew) is really busy with Hazelight´s very first game (an unannounced and nameless title, at least for now).

A game that´s 100% backed up by Electronic Arts. So that means that the Hazelight team won´t to worry about any economic issues at all.

In other words, they can just focus on making a really awesome game (which is made with the help of Unreal Engine 4).

I wonder what hazelight ´s game will be all about? And what genre it will be?

However, according to Josef Fares it will take about two years (counting from December last year) to finish Hazelight´s first game (the one that´s in production right now).

Hazelight´s game might get done and made in less than 2 years from now though. Because the current dev team of 15 people, might become 25 people in in the near future (more hands and brains = Faster development).

Anyways, this is what Josef Fares had to say about Hazelight´s upcoming game to GamesIndustry:

“The thing I’m not sure about is if it’s going to sell a lot,” Fares said of the project. “I know it’s going to be a great game. Brothers sold like 750,000 units and is actually still selling, but you never know about that. For me personally, I would take that risk to publish a game myself, but not for the team.”

“From the people in my team here, they said Brothers was the game where they threw away the least stuff,” Fares said. “We threw away very little because we had a very clear idea of what the goal was with Brothers, and it’s the same with the new game. We know where we’re going, where we’re heading.” Josef Fares via GamesIndustry

About Hazelight:
Hazelight has not yet released any games, but most of us worked together as the core team on the development of Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons by Starbreeze Studios which was published by 505 Games.
