After recent modding sagas, the community has united for mod appreciation week Melbourne
Press release:
May 18, 2015 – Mods are such an important part of PC Gaming, but until the community found its voice a few weeks back, we mostly took all the hard work and effort mod teams put in (while asking for nothing in return) for granted. After that saga it was clear to us that while modders ask for nothing, we (the community of players and sites) need to show them our appreciation and not just when it suits our agenda.
In partnership with Curse, Gamebanana, Run Shoot Think Live and other modding communities, we are kicking off Mod Appreciation Week 2015 for the first time. From May 18th to 25th -all players of mods are encouraged to tweet, facebook or blog about their favorite mod and say why they love it so much.
Each of these communities has worked with popular gamedevelopers on their site (that come from a modding background), and will be giving away
games to participants. Mod DB has Killing Floor 2, Mount & Blade Warband, Space Engineers, Insurgency, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Black Mesa, Contagion and Amnesia all on board.
With paid modding in the spotlight, we need to show how important a healthy mod community is, and to encourage game developers to continue working on keeping their platforms open and mod friendly. Read our official launch post for more details and to see this promotion in action look out for the beating heart here.
