***Update 2 – 2015-05-13 – 13:59 CEST***
It´s been about a week since i heard about the corrupt gamejournos list (DeepFreeze) for the fist time. And since then a lot of things has happened. For starter, the DeepFreeze list has been called a “#GamerGate hit list” by both game journalists and game devs. And one of those devs stated the following just recently:
“Half of GG believes I’m some sort of super secret agent and the other half thinks I’m irrelevant so they don’t target me. :p GamerGate.me is not an impartial source. It’s a GamerGate propaganda website, just like DeepFreeze. They have reasons, which I find ridiculous. Anyway their choice.
I’d say all ya need to know is that they’re a hate group that pretends to be for ethics in video games journalism. They’ve been condemned by Google, Sony, etc.
There are some very legit reasons IMO to boycott some of the sites on that list (Gawker doesn’t pay interns); GG does not……pay attention to those reasons, they’re full of conspiracy theories and harassment.”
And this makes me wonder. Because this is some really heavy claims. So does the dev/game journalist have any facts and evidence to back his/her statement up? However, this is not the first person that has spoken up about the DeepFreeze list. As i´ve seen other devs and game journalists rant about the DeepFreeze list as well.
Like the following people for example:
So what do you guys/girls think? Is the DeepFreeze list a #GamerGate hit list? Or is it just a list over corrupt game journalists?

This sure came out of nowhere. But the former Games reviewer Darren Porter (he worked for Megazone and Mason Stewart Publishing), has just spoken out on Twitter about #GamerGate and the corrupt video game industry. And Darren admited that #GamerGate has been right all along (as pictured down below).
And this created a lot of tweets and retweets. But some tweets were more interesting than others. Such as the following:
“We should talk. Former Game Journalist, vocal GG proponent. Lots of people would love to hear from you.” – Oliver Campbell, former game journalist
“@dg_porter holy shit mate, run for your life, they are coming for you soon!” – JohnCobalt
“I’m not too perturbed, truth always wins out in the end.” – Darren Porter, former Games reviewer
And this tweet right here, is now echoing all over the world as we speak. But it still remains to be seen if it will affect the industry in any kind of positive way. Nether the less, the more people who speak up about the issues in the industry, the better it is.

Even though there´s a lot of hate and finger-pointing aimed towards #GamerGate (it´s been like that since last summer), GG has at least done one good deed for the video game industry lately. And that´s the corrupt game journos list (it may not be 100% accurate, but it´s a good start at least). And it´s exactly what it sounds like, it’s an web-based list of corrupt video game journalists. And we welcome that sort of initiative.
As the industry has become dirtier and more corrupt over the years. So the corrupt game journos list is a huge step in the right direction for sure. Because i see it like this, if you´re clean and got nothing to hide. You don´t have anything to worry about. Besides, this industry is in great need of an active watchdog.
And hate it or not, but #GamerGate has been that watchdog for a long time now. I also want to point out that i will do whatever it takes to make sure that we never EVER end up on the corrupt game journos list. And you got my word on that. That´s also why i created our TGG ethics policies page yesterday.
But even so, i want you guys/girls to call us out if we have made any mistakes, or “if” you have caught anyone of us of breaking any of our ethics policy rules. A big thank you in advance!
And now dear Gamers let´s join forces. Because it´s time to clean up the video game industry. It´s going to be a dirty job (i know). But together we can do it!
