I´m far from the only one that would LOVE to see a remake of Konami´s and Hideo Kojima´s cyberpunk/adventure game “Snatcher” (which was originally released to PC-8801 back in 1988).
And i´m talking about a 100% professional English translation, enhanced graphics, music, soundeffects, and so forth. All available for digital download via services such as GOG, Steam, Desura, PSN and XBLA.
If that became a reality, then it would be a dream come true for me and many other Snatcher fans out there.
But at this time, that´s nothing more than a wet dream of mine. Because Konami has not presented any plans for a Snatcher Remake (at least not to my knowledge).
However, there´s a 100% fan-translated version of the MSX2 RPG game “SD Snatcher” (called “Project Melancholia“).
And IF you know where to look (rom-hacks *blink blink*), you can also find fan-translations for “Snatcher” (MSX, Saturn and PS1). Because right now, that´s THE only way that you can enjoy Snatcher in English.
And that´s a real bummer of course. Especially on the thought of a digitally remastered release of “Snatcher”. I mean, just think about it. The latest edition of Snatcher was released to SEGA´s Saturn back in 1996 (Japan).
So that means that there´s plenty of Gamers out there that hasn´t had the great pleasure to play “Snatcher” (the language barrier or the “know how” messes things up as well. For those who dares to give “Snatcher” a go).
And 1996 wasn’t exactly yesterday. So Snatcher looks pretty outdated nowadays.
But a digital release of Snatcher (a remake with 100% English dialogs and speach), would change all of that. So, the move is yours to make Konami. Make it happen!
