I know that SEGA has been under heavy fire for years from angry Sonic (and Shenmue) fans, and rightfully so. Because when you´re not listening to your fans (and your consumers), you´re out on very thin ice.
But this time SEGA has done everything just right. I´m talking about SEGA´s decesion to release Yakuza 5 in the West (EU and America .I´m not 100% sure about Australia and Canada).
And that became public known back in December (when a Yakuza 5 post were published on the offical SEGA blog).
When Toshihiro Nagoshi (Executive Director and General Producer) and Masayoshi Yokoyama (Producer) spoke up about the plans for a Western release of Yakuza 5:
“After receiving so many requests from fans of the series, we have decided to bring Yakuza 5 to the US and Europe. This title was enjoyed by over one million gamers in Japan. I’m looking forward to seeing how Yakuza 5 will be received by the gamers in the U.S. and Europe.”
– Toshihiro Nagoshi (Executive Director and General Producer)
“Yakuza 5 is the largest and most definitive version of the Yakuza series. The game is filled with depictions of the Japanese way of life, culture, trends, social issues and dreams. You will play as 5 different main characters with a range of different ages, genders and professions and experience their challenges through a variety of character focused, in-depth stories. I hope you can immerse yourself in our rendition of modern time Japan.”
– Masayoshi Yokoyama (Producer)
So “if” everything goes according to plan. Then we (those who live in the West) should be able to buy Yakuza 5 via PSN sometime during Q3 this year (for PS).
I will buy it for sure, but what about you guys? Will you buy the Western version of Yakuza 5?
