We already knew that Amazon meant serious business when they bought Twitch TV for 970 million dollars last year (August), but it seems like Amazon is ready to engage full Gamer/Gaming mode now. Since Amazon is searching for people who are experienced with AAA games at this moment (Amazon needs over new 26 people to their Game studio). That would make perfect sense though, since Amazon Game Studios already have talented people such as Tom Leonard (Ex-Valve and project leader of L4D2), Clint Hocking (Ex-Ubisoft and Far Cry 2 director) and Kim Swift (Ex-Valve and designer of Portal).
So I’m quite curious to find out what Amazon Game Studios ‘ambitious’ PC game is all about. Oh well, I guess we have to wait a little longer before Amazon unveils what they’re working on. Maybe we will find out more during E3?
“Amazon is all in on games. We believe the evolution that began with arcade communities a quarter at a time, growing to the live streams and eSports of today, will continue to a future in which fans are creators, players are celebrities, and games are a global cultural touchstone that cuts across age, gender and nationality. Games have the power to connect communities at a massive scale, and will continue to produce some of the world’s most influential voices in media and art.
Twitch, Amazon Web Services, digital and physical media publishing… imagine being able to invent within this sandbox of Amazon assets to create awe-inspiring games for players, broadcasters and viewers; and game technology for developers. That’s what we are doing. We are looking for the best people in the industry to join our team. We are looking for passionate and talented people to join us as we take risks, innovate, and invent in order to deliver an unparalleled game experience to players. We have offices in Seattle, WA, Irvine, CA, and Palo Alto, CA.” – Amazon
