Not so long ago I (Robin) was contacted by Reinhold Hoffmann (the founder of Game Art HQ) and he informed me that Game Art HQ has just kicked-off their Pokémon fan collaboration to celebrate Pokémon´s 20th Anniversary:

“Hello Robin (or whoever else reads this)

Reinhold here (aka Hoffmann). I have a big art collaboration in the works with around 200 artists. It is the first Game-Art-HQ Pokemon related art project and while we were thinking about doing something Pokemon related in 2014 already, we had always other stuff coming first. The 20th Anniversary of the series seemed a good year to eventually start something though.

The idea behind this one was to get artists of different ages and experiences with art together since the series is really something for old and young gamers, and the result was exactly what we wanted. You will see Pokemon illustrated that are super detailed next to those that are similar to the cute ones in the official Pokemon artworks.

All 151 Pokemon of the first Generation were drawn by two different artists, to make our project special, we added a focus on the different moves by the Pokemon. Every illustration shows one of them doing one of the moves.

This project will be complete on the 24th December as a christmas gift by thePokemon fan community FOR the Pokemon fan community. Each of the 151 Pokemon gets an own gallery with the two artworks as well as decsiptions of the artists, the illustrated moves and the Pokemon, written by fans that are all Pokemon gamers.

The main gallery of the project is online already and can be seen here:

Since the last September days we are adding 1-2 of the Pokemon galleries now with the last one, Missingno being revealed at Christmas. Would be cool if you can help this big fan project to “make the rounds” – Reinhold Hoffmann, Game Art HQ
