Today is a good day if you’re a fan of Nintendo’s mobile consoles. Why? Because I (Robin Ek, TGG) was just informed by Bergsala AB (Nintendo Sweden) that the New Nintendo 2DS XL console is set for a release on the 28th of July =)

“The game consoles of the Nintendo 3DS family will receive another member soon. On July 28, we release the New Nintendo 2DS XL. Check this trailer to see what it looks like: New Nintendo 2DS XL – Announcement Trailer

As you can see in the trailer, the New Nintendo 2DS XL has a new, stylish design and will be available in the BLACK + TURQUOISE and WHITE + ORANGE color variants. It has the same big screen as the New Nintendo 3DS XL and is equally powerful, but weighs slightly less. Just as the name suggests, the New Nintendo 2DS XL shows all games only in 2D. It also has built-in support for amiibo.

On this game console release day we will also release three great games that will be great no matter what game console in the Nintendo 3DS family you have:

Hey! PIKMIN: In this brand new Pikmin game, take Captain Olimar through 2D side-scrolling tracks and merge Sparklium into his broken spacecraft, S.S. Dolphin 2. Use the touchscreen to select the correct Pikmin for the right time. Throw your pikmin on enemies or objects to take you forward and solve puzzles in this cozy adventure.

Miitopia: Take your Mii and your Mii friends and discover your Miitopia. Allow Mii characters to get different roles and see exciting scenarios when they take on the fight against Dark Lord, who viciously stolen the faces of people in Miitopia. You can enter Mii characters from other games like Miitomo and Tomodachi Life, or create your own Mii team. A easy-to-play roleplay where you create relationships and build teams.

Dr. Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused ?: The third game in the popular Brain Training series. A game series that has already sold over 15 million copies of Brain Training games in Europe. Get ready to train your brain. Here it is about showing how well you are focusing!” – Nintendo Sweden
