***Update 1 – 2015-11-25 – 16:11 CET***
I need to correct myself a bit, because a new Bioshock game has not been confirmed by Take-Two Interactive (I miss understood the original text by IGN, a text which IGN updated just recently). However, Take-Two Interactive does indeed have plans for “more” BioShock games in the future. So that could, in fact, mean that we “might” get to see more than just one new Bioshock title in the coming years. With that said, I’m sorry for the confusion that I might have caused.
“Expect a lot more BioShock in the future. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has called the series “unquestionably a permanent franchise.”

It seems like 2015 is the year of miracles when it comes to video games. I mean, first I found out that Night Dive Studios is working on a System Shock 1 remake (and “maybe” System shock 3). And just now I heard about the great news that Take Two Interactive has confirmed that there is a new BioShock game is in development (will we get a release date for Half-Life 3 before the year is over as well? Or am I just pushing my luck?). This is awesome news for sure, especially since I (and many others) thought that there would be no more Bioshock games (or at least for a very long time).
Because as you might remember, back in 2014 (February) Ken Levine had us know that ” Burial at Sea” would be Irrational Games last title in the Bioshock series (Irrational Games developed “Bioshock 1” and “BioShock Infinite”, while 2K Marin and 2K Australia developed “Bioshock 2”). So it was somewhat unclear when we would get to see a new Bioshock title. Well, fear not! As Take Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed that a brand-new BioShock game is in development by 2K Marin in California (Take Two has not forgotten about their “Bioshock” IP).
However, it´s not clear what kind of game the new “Bioshock” title would be, nor which formats the game will be released to (I wonder if this means that we will get a Bioshock movie as well?). Even so, I´m still excited for a new “Bioshock” game. I just hope that 2K Marin will be able to keep the “Bioshock” spirit and atmosphere alive. As it seems like Ken Levine won´t be a part of the development crew? (speaking of which, don´t miss out on our Q and A interview with Ken Levine!).
Anyhow, what do you guys think about all of this? And are you excited for a new “Bioshock” game? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
